For this week’s #NonprofitPhotoChallenge we would like to share with you the #story of a friend of the NCMC Foundation, Jim Lord.
Jim’s life nearly took a tragic turn when he fell victim to cardiac arrest while visiting Weld County Garage. Quick thinking and lifesaving CPR efforts administered by a Weld County Garage employee, and ultimately a device called an automated external defibrillator (AED), saved his life. Out of gratefulness to the Weld County Garage staff for saving his life, Jim and his wife Charlotte later donated an AED to the dealership through the NCMC Foundation’s #Heart Safe City program.
Though rarely utilized, AED’s are of critical importance when needed. AED units have been placed in the Weld County community thanks to the generosity of the supporters of the NCMC Foundation. Enough AED’s have been deployed throughout Weld County, that our community has been designated as a #HeartSafeCity – a designation shared by relatively few communities throughout the country.
📷 - Craig Nelson, Banner Health NCMC paramedic, Steve Rohn, Weld County Garage mechanic, Jim Lord and Sheena Bledsoe, Banner Health NCMC paramedic display the AED device that Jim and Charlotte Lord donated through the Heart Safe City program to Weld County Garage. Nelson, Rohn, and Bledsoe helped save Lord’s life in April 2015.

"COVID-19 was initially thought to be a disease that was serious for the eldery and people with preexisting conditions. A potentially tough, but temporary respiratory illness for everyone else. But now, eight months into the pandemic, younger patients who have had relatively mild cases of COVID, are showing up in doctors offices and emergency rooms with mysterious and debilitating symptoms. It's not unusual for viruses to cause aftereffects, but as you'll hear tonight, doctors tell us they've never seen anything like this," via 60 Minutes.
