We had a unique pet visit us the other day! Everybody, meet Coal. This guy was one of the sweetest kittens ever! He loves snuggles and nestled right into our assistant’s jacket for much of his visit. He also was born with a condition called ‘Syndactyly’ which means that several of his toes on each foot are fused together to make essentially one big toe! This isn’t painful, Coal is still able to run around and play like a normal kitten but it sure is interesting to see!

Our latest rescue had a close call: He thought a bucket of bleach was worth tasting! His mouth was too sore to eat for days, so we placed a feeding tube into his esophagus for nutrition while his mouth sores healed. Fortunately, “Friday” got better quickly and is already off to his Furever Home!

We'd like to tell you a story about Tux. Tux has a tendency to get nervous, especially in new or 'scary' situations like being at the vet. Luckily, Tux's people were aware of this and wanted to do everything they could to make him more comfortable. Tux came to us many times for what we like to call 'Fear Free Visits'. In these visits Tux came to the hospital, walked around, met the staff, ate some treats, and sniffed where he wanted to sniff. No procedures, restraint, or anything potentially scary was done so that Tux could focus on being confident in his surroundings and learn to trust our staff. The other day was his first 'real' visit with us and he did *great*! Stories like Tux's are why we love the Fear Free method and continue to work hard with all our patients! 💞
