Tonight we were asked by University Public Events at Chico State to light Laxson Auditorium in red light to participate in the new movement that is taking place across the US tonight #WeMakeEvents #RedAlertRESTART #chicoperformances. See my previous post. Check out the pic!
I know everyone is hurting right now. But our industry, the event industry, was the first to get shut down and will be the last to come back long after every other aspect of the economy has recovered. As a result hundreds of thousands of workers have no income, many of which were independent contractors who have no unemployment benefits and even big companies from venues to artist support companies like tour bus, tour management and production houses like us are dying, not to mention smaller outfits like caterers, DJs and event rental businesses like our local event rental services are going to be out of work for most of the next year potentially. Even major equipment manufacturers are in danger of folding and losing decades of technology, r&d, product development and employees including speaker & console, lighting and staging manufacturers. No one is thinking about us in congress and there are no plans to support our industry. The supply chain is collapsing! This movement is sweeping the nation and you will see venues and businesses being painted red with light to communicate to congress that we are in serious jeopardy. #WeMakeEvents #RedAlertRESTART #ChicoPerformances WEMAKEEVENTS.ORG #WeMakeEvents – Now at Red Alert!
I miss being able to create my art... Here are some cool pics of lighting we designed and implemented for events.
Here is an elaborate and complex acoustic treatment upgrade we recently did for the Burban Kitchen in the new Miriam Park project for Dan Gonzales from Fifth Sun Clothing Company. It was a largely stone, steel and glass room that was very loud. Now it sounds right as rain.
Hi Friends. Well with all of 2020's events cancelled indefinitely we had to pivot hard. Focusing entirely on our systems integration division, Matt Franklin and myself, Bob Tolar, have been selling and installing audio visual systems all over the North State. Its going very well. Matt Franklin and I are a great team and our skills compliment each other, leaving us with nothing we cannot nail down with excellence. In the last three months we have completed a new website, upgraded the Oroville State Theater Lighting Rig, completed conference room installations for Farm Credit Services Offices in Colusa and Willows, The Sierra Nevada Cheese Factory in Willows, Three Complete Church renovations, just finished First Assembly Chico today. Also a total sound system and security replacement at the Rawbar in Chico, North Rim Crossfit and over a dozen classroom modernizations at several schools. We just found out today, our bid was accepted to install all new sound, video and lighting systems into the newly renovated Oroville Municipal Auditorium. We are one of the very few AV contractors with a C-10 electrical contractors license, which helped us win that one. Lots more in the works that I must keep quiet for now...I should make a T-shirt that says "I own an event production company and I survived Covid!"...Thanks for your support! http://nsav-installers.com/
Just got the PO today. North State AV will be installing the projection and sound system for the CORE Butte Charter School's gymnasium with Atlona control.
Just sold this Priamacoustic London 12 panel kit to Rob Harrison for their music room. They also come in grey and black. Well match any online price for Primacoustic products. They absorb 100% of so I nd that hit them. Very effective and easy to install.
We purchaded our own office demo selection of programmable touch screen control equipment and Bob is diligently training and practicing creating custom user interfaces. Anything is possible...
North State AV will be installing a video wall and sound system into the new Pleasant Valley High School MPR building. This system will consist of a 2x2 video wall, EV speaker system inside and outside the building with Shure wireless mics and a custom programmed touch screen control interface. The first shipment of gear just showed up and we're excited to get started...
During the recent Oroville Municipal Auditorium Installation, we found that two of the power outlets on the back wall of the stage were not working. It was not part of our bid scope to address this problem, but we are C-10 electrical contractors and I couldn't see them having a nice new AV rig and two of the 5 stage outlets are down, plus it was killing me. During the investigation we determined the wires running from the working 3rd receptacle to the non-working 4th one had no continuity though they were visibly connected on both sides. But the hot lead was shorting to ground, with a huge amount of resistance. So we attempted to pull out the old conductors and pull through new ones, but they would not budge no matter how hard we pulled and were welded to the inside of the conduit. So we went down under the stage where we could see the conduit and cut out a 8 foot section that appeared to have been super heated in the middle and sure enough it turned out to have this awful wire short welded to the inside of it. My conclusion is that this wire short was draining the hot to the ground but with so much resistance, due to the heavy oxidation, rust and heat damage, coupled with the poor ground provided by the old conduit connectivity, that it was not tripping the breaker whenever the circuit was energized, which was all day every day for the past several years. We might have prevented this historical venue from later burning down. Guess they are lucky we won the bid and not someone else who would have ignored anything that was not their obligation to address.
Bob Tolar December 21, 2020 at 6:38 PM · Finally have a production gig. We created this lighting and projection mapped video display on the building using our huge 14,400 lumen projectors. This is all our own content and the building map was created by Abbey and we even had a lapel miked Santa with an ear bud greeting people by name. #northstateav
North State AV, Inc added 9 new photos. January 21 at 3:07 PM · North State AV, won the bid to completely replace the sound, video and stage lighting systems in the Oroville Municipal Auditorium. Here are some pics of that project.
Recently finished our gymnasium sound and video installation for the CORE Butte Charter School in Chico. Look how clean it is! These speaker mounts are the best looking product I've ever used. The install included Da-Lite electric drop down screen, 7000 Lumen NEC projector, Atlona Velocity control system with custom programmed Touch Screen, Shure wireless mics, Symetrix audio processor and Electrovoice speakers. We handled all of the C-10 electrical installation which included some pretty long conduit runs from the power room that turned out very clean also. And all of the signal, control and speaker wire is close to invisible, just how I like it!
