HUD to Host Virtual Symposium for California Landlords
Yesterday on the HCV Landlord Resources webpage, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced that it will be hosting a three-day virtual symposium for California landlords. The symposium, titled “Why Housing Choice Vouchers Should Be a Part of Every Rental Portfolio,” will provide landlords with information about HUD voucher assistance programs, including the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) and HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) programs. HUD’s Landlord Task Force invites landlords, PHA representatives, and other industry partners to participate. Topics and dates are as follow:
The Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8): Basics and Program Updates for Landlords – March 2, 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Pacific Time

Scholarship Criteria 2021
It is our goal at the North Valley Property Owners Association to promote the professional development and education of future property management leaders within our 12 county territories. In order to do that we are offering a program to promote growth in our industry and increase the resources that can be called upon to assist with NVPOA educational activities. Participants would be required to have a minimum three-year commitment to NVPOA and to participate on committees, the board and/or teach workshops concurrently with enrollment in their Real Estate Sales/Brokers, Certified Apartment Manager (CAM) online course through NAA, or Certified Property Management (CPM) designation with IREM. Scholarships will be awarded to recipients upon receipt of payment for; classes, exams, and license fees. The 2021 scholarship will be open to anyone who meets our criteria. Interviews will be scheduled for each applicant with the education/membership committee. Recommendations will be given to the Board of Directors for final approval. Recipients will be required to complete their Sales/Brokers License, or CAM designation within one year after receiving their scholarship award. If receiving their CPM designation, they will have up to three years to complete.
Applications will be accepted now until May 1, 2021
Scholarships will be awarded to an applicant wishing to obtain their California Real Estate Sales/Brokers License up to $500, CAM online certification up to $500, or CPM designation of up to $2000. The applicant must meet the following criteria to be eligible for consideration.
- Applicants must be a current member of NVPOA or employed by a member.
- Applicants must present a letter of support if employed by an NVPOA member.
- Applicants must submit a one-page essay explaining their plans, how their license will be used, and how they want to be involved with NVPOA.
- Applicants must provide a cover letter and resume.
