Dr. Mitchell earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois, in 1978. Following graduation, she enrolled in Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois, where she earned her Doctor of Medicine. In 1990, she completed an internal medicine residency program at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
Dr. Mitchell is highly knowledgeable in primary care and internal medicine, including disease prevention, wellness, substance abuse, mental health, and the effective treatment of common medical issues. She is trained in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Dr. Mitchell also has experience treating patients with infections and diseases that affect the heart, vasculature, blood, kidneys, joints, digestive tract, and respiratory system.
