Models? Maybe. Fashion forward? Definitely.
Don’t forget to schedule your flu shot appointment on our website. Because if you forget, and you call here in November and we’re out, we’re totally gonna be like “I told you so”.
Clearly Dr. Bensko’s baby has not lost her sense of taste, but unfortunately this pesky Covid is still hanging around.
We are now offering rapid testing in the office. The test is nasal (think casual boog-pick, not the brain jabber) and results take about 15 minutes. It is an antigen test, not a PCR test.
If you are coming to walk-in or for a scheduled appointment and you know that you would like a covid test, please enter and check out through Waiting Room 2.
We are not able to test parents or caregivers.
Any changes will be announced here and on our “Covid Hotline” 312.642.5515 press ‘*’. -
This video is best appreciated with sound.
Flu vaccines are now available! They will be given at well child appointments, or you can schedule an appointment through our website - www.nwcppediatrics.com .
Flu vaccines are recommended for everyone over age 6 months. If this is the first time that your child is getting a flu vaccine and they are under 9 years old, they should receive 2 doses separated by at least 1 month.
We currently have both the injected and the nasal spray available. The nasal spray can be given to anyone over 2 years old. Both forms are thought to be equally effective. We are not able to offer flu vaccines to parents or caregivers at this time.
When you schedule an appointment for a flu vaccine online, note that the appointment is ONLY for a vaccine - you will not be seen by a doctor or nurse practitioner. If your child has any signs of illness, please call the office prior to coming in for a vaccine.
Supply changes frequently - please check our Facebook page or our flu information phone message (312.642.5515 , press '9') prior to coming in for current availability.
We’ve gotten lots of calls today from people wanting to know if Dr. Blegen was officiating a wedding today at Promontory Point in Hyde Park. Of course he was.
Although we aren’t sure what he spoke to the newlyweds about, we can assume that it had something to do with the office being open this Saturday and Sunday, but closed on Monday for Labor Day.
We hope you have a relaxing weekend. Keep an eye on our social media next week for information about flu shots!

Rolling into the weekend... We are aware that some of you are having difficulty scheduling a flu shot online - we do have plenty of availability. When you schedule make sure to NOT say that you are a new patient. That way you will see more availability.

Dr. Unger was on NBC Chicago tonight giving her take on the Senate confirmation hearings... sorry actually on how all this extra fun family home time is affecting childhood obesity. Spoiler alert: not in a good way!

We unfortunately no longer have Flumist (the nasal flu vaccine) in the office. So if you promised no shot.. well, it won’t be the first time you’ll be a disappointment to your child. We will update if we get more. We still have plenty of injectable flu vaccine.
New signs. Best thing that’s happened since we started wearing scrubs. We’re hoping to open an Auntie Anne’s by the end of the year so that we are in full airport mode.
Does your pediatrician know ALL of the words to the Fresh Prince of Bel Air? Call them and check.
Latest update from our office .
Breaking - The Times predicts a 100% chance of us having flu shot back in stock! And The Times has never been wrong !
You can now book flu shot appointments on our website, www.nwcppediatrics.com . We have both shot and nasal spray available. As a reminder, if this is the first year that your child is getting a flu vaccine and they are under 9 years old, they need 2 doses separated by at least 1 month.
We weren’t in the Halloween spirit so much this year, mainly because everything is awful, but nothing stops Amy Manion from demanding attention !
Not only did she win the office costume contest, she won the pumpkin contest for the ENTIRE BUILDING! Granted , this building has about 3 tenants left, but Amy was super grateful for the $50,000 prize. She plans to use what’s left after our percentage to “buy things for myself”.
Happy Halloween Y’all! Thankfully next week promises less drama!
Dr. Goldstein spoke with NBC News today and ruined Halloween.

We know there’s pain, but we ask you to open your heart and your mind and hold on for a few days - due to a delay in shipment we have had to pause flu shot scheduling. If you already have an appointment scheduled you should still come in - we just can’t schedule new appointments until we know that we have the vaccine physically in the office.
But we know things will change , shots will come your way. We also have more nasal spray coming, and as soon as we are able to we will open the scheduling platform.
Keep an eye out here, and also on our website and our Flu Hotline (call 312.642.5515 and press 9).
Not sure if #tbt is still a thing , but we thought we’d try something new today. It’s called “Ask Dr. Unger a Question in 1992”. Basically, we take a question and have Dr. Unger answer it 29 years ago.
Today’s question is about thermometers. You’re probably wondering “Surely she doesn’t use the word ‘tushy’ on TV??”- you’ll have to watch to find out.
Next week - a video of Dr. Unger taking her Gameboy to a P.M. Dawn concert.
Great success! Two weeks after the second dose of the Covid vaccine we are making antibodies!
Update on Covid testing in the office - we are now offering rapid antigen, rapid antibody, and PCR testing to parents as well as patients. As far as the vaccine goes, still no word on when it will be available for kids under 16, but it unfortunately won’t be any time soon. We are in the process of obtaining vaccine for older kids, parents , and anyone else who qualifies. We will notify you (probably with a themed video) when we have more info.
Dr. Hirsh wants us to remind you about the Instagram Live about sleep tomorrow (Wednesday 1.27) at 1pm. “Sleep is my favorite thing to talk about, ” Dr.Hirsh said “and I also like talking about school admission processes and also about anything related to exercise, especially Peloton!”. See y’all tomorrow!
Congratulations to Drs. Unger, Hirsh, and Li for being named by Chicago Magazine as three of Chicago’s top pediatricians !
Not sure why the other doctors in the practice didn’t make the list. Maybe it’s because of the pictures we submitted? You be the judge.
Reminder that some of these Top Docs (and also some of the “Tier 2 Trash Doctors”) will be talking about sleep on our next IG Live, which is on Wednesday 1.27 at 1pm CST.

Please join us for our next Instagram Live on Wednesday, 1.27 at 1pm CST. The topic will be SLEEP, so have your questions ready!
We may or may not do the entire thing as Bridgerton characters. The problem we’re having is that Dr. Hirsh wants to play Daphne , but her acting is not good. We could deal with that , but her accent is atrocious, so we hired a dialect coach, but due to travel restrictions the coach may not be able to get out of quarantine in time. Unfortunately we signed a contract so we have to pay him, unless our lawyer can get us out of this jam, but she says that she’s “tired of us”.
Bottom line - Possibly Bridgerton-themed-definitely-sleep-focused IG live 1.27 1pm about sleep
