In 1918 armistice ended the active fighting of WW1-this occurred on the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month. For that reason the US has celebrated a holiday on (or around) November 11th since 1919. The day used to be called “Armistice Day” but Congress changed it to “Veteran’s Day” after WW2 and it remains a legal holiday meant to honor and celebrate Veterans and Active Military Personnel for their willingness to serve and sacrifice!
