Dr. Omer Beaird is an infectious diseases physician who practices at Westwood. His clinical interests include infection in immunocompromised patients, in particular solid organ and hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients. He has particular interest in endemic and opportunistic fungal infections, respiratory viral infections, donor transmitted infections and diagnostic testing in this population. He is board certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases, and is also a clinical instructor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
Dr. Beaird received his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. He then completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Michigan School of Medicine and his infectious disease fellowship at UCLA. During residency and fellowship he participated in clinical research involving community respiratory viruses and endemic fungal infections. He is a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, the American Society of Transplantation (AST) and AST Infectious Diseases Community of Practice.
