What is Pilates?
At Omni Pilates various apparatuses are used to train your body to functionally operate at its optimal level. We can program for just about anything. Whether you are looking to be pain free during your everyday life, perform better at your sport or recreation, recover from an injury, or heck, just get sexy, Pilates can help.
More traditional types of training tend to develop short and bulky muscles. This type of musculature is most prone to injury. Pilates elongates the spine, increasing the elasticity of muscles and the flexibility of joints. Thus, it is this combination of strength and flexibility that reduces the potential for injury.
The Five Basic Principles of Pilates
The following Five Basic Principles form the foundation of the method from which our education and all of our programming is developed. Whether performed on a mat or on specialized equipment, application of the following biomechanical principles will ensure the realization of maximum benefits from Pilates exercises:
--Breathing
--Pelvic Placement
--Rib cage placement
--Scapular movement
--Head and cervical spine placement
