Created by Maryland artist Lawrence Romorini, this display guides viewers from Reliable’s humble beginnings, growth throughout the century, and becoming the 21st century producer and worldwide distributor of fire protection products that we are today.

United Nations International Peace Day - September 21, 2020
One of Lawrence’s earliest collages, created in 1987, commemorated the Helm Family’s participation in the “American Soviet Peace Walk” from Leningrad to Moscow. Ed and Adrien’s commitment to international peace inspired them to march with their 4 young children over 400 miles from Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg) to Moscow with Soviet citizens for reconciliation and understanding. 33 years later, each item brings back a treasured memory.

September 15, 2020 marks the 38th anniversary of USA Today, founded by Al Neuharth. How well many of us remember the launch! With the addition of Al Neuharth’s papers to The Library of Congress, the timing’s perfect for tonight’s program, “A Salute to Al Neuharth, Diversity and the First Amendment,” presented by the Freedom Forum. We look forward to joining in the celebration of his “pioneering commitment to diversity in the news media.”
USA Today’s 5th anniversary proved to be the official launch of One Of A Kind Art Studio, with 3-dimensional commemorative art commissioned to honor Al Neuharth and his team. Neuharth’s collage featured an actual 1926 Royal typewriter, a duplicate of the one he started his journalism career with.
