On this murky #MidwoodMonday, we would like to introduce you to RoCo - Roasting Company Plaza Midwood Located just across the street at 1332-B Central Avenue, RoCo is open Sun-Tues 11AM to midnight, and Wed-Sat 11AM to 2AM. With those hours you can count on them to fulfill any late night cravings. The Roasting Company has three locations in the Carolinas. Owner Doug Bell opened their original location in 1991 on Montford Drive. They opened their second location in Rock Hill in 2016, and finally, the #PlazaMidwood location in 2017. Doug likes to keep things simple, including the name and concept of the restaurant. RoCo came to life after the he visited a rotisserie chicken restaurant in Costa Rica and fell in love. Happy #MidwoodMonday everyone! Lets ring in the New Year with a home cooked southern meal from the famous Dish, located just around the block at 1220 Thomas Avenue. They have breakfast, lunch, and dinner options and if you aren’t in the mood for southern cuisine, they also offer a south of the border menu featuring Mexican inspired dishes. Dish was featured on the hit TV show Diners, Drive-ins and Dives! Guy Fieri recommends the fried green tomatoes or the chicken and dumplings. Yum! The building was formally home to "Ho Toy" Restaurant which was owned by Junior Wong. Mr. Wong was also the chef at "Oriental," Charlotte’s first Asian restaurant. In the 80’s, Chef Wong sold the property and business to Johnny Tom, who was also his former boss. Ho Toy operated until the late 1998. Who is ready for some fun on this #MidwoodMonday? Let’s go on down to Pinhouse located at 2306 Central Avenue. They opened their doors in the Plaza Midwood Neighborhood in July 2019 and have been a favorite ever since. Owned by Rich Moyer and Drew Nesemeier, who also owns Hoppin’, their bar features 72 self-pour taps! Look for our signature One305 pint glasses on the shelves! The space is over 6,000 square feet and is two levels, so there is plenty of space to move about. There is also a two-story patio area with a spacious lawn and fireplace that overlooks Veterans Park. When you arrive, they will check your ID and start your tab. You are then given a wristband that will activate the taps allowing you to pour as little or as much as you would like. They have beer, wine, cider, and kombucha on tap. From there you can venture over to the duckpin bowling lanes in the basement for a little competitive fun. If all the lanes are full don’t worry, add your name to the waitlist and enjoy another beer. If you get a little hungry between the bowling and drinks, they have an on-site food truck to cure your cravings.
