About

At Optimal Performance Medicine in Woodstock, Georgia, Michael Skardasis, MD, gained a reputation as the doctor that takes his patients off medicine. After spending more than 12 years at North Georgia Internal Medicine, Dr. Skardasis experienced the power that good nutrition has on changing a person’s health.
Dr. Skardasis opened Optimal Performance Medicine in 2018. At his practice, patients come first, and he provides individualized empathic care focused on creating health.
Dr. Skardasis was born and raised in Atlanta. After earning his bachelor of science from the University of Georgia in Athens, he went on to the prestigious Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta for his medical degree. Initially, Dr. Skardasis set out to pursue a career as a surgeon, but after two years of surgical training, he switched gears to internal medicine. He completed his residency at Grady Memorial Hospital, which became like a second home.
To expand the depth of his medical knowledge, Dr. Skardasis also spent time at the Atlanta VA Medical Center, Emory University, and Emory University Midtown Hospital during his training, which he considers some of his fondest memories.
After completing his training, Dr. Skardasis spent time at the Kaufmann Clinic, working at both the Woodstock and Midtown locations, as well as North Georgia Internal Medicine. He also spent time working as a hospitalist at WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia.
Dr. Skardasis is on a mission to create healthy people and take them off medicine. To schedule an appointment with the experienced physician at Optimal Performance Medicine, call today or book online.

We are here to serve you. There are many reasons besides cough and fever you may still need to see a doctor. Last week I treated patients with severe abdominal infections where it was absolutely necessary. We are seeing both patients in person if absolutely necessary or via telehealth. Your safety is of utmost importance to us. We are self monitoring our symptoms as well as checking our temp before work and right before we return from lunch. We are practicing social distancing and wearing a mask if we are in six feet of another staff member. 1- I have asked my staff to keep an empty waiting room. 2- When you arrive to the office we ask you to wait in your car and we will call you when there is an empty exam room which has been sanitized with bleach. 3- We will not ask you to wait in the waiting room. 4- Once you have been checked in the staff will check your vitals after washing hands and using a mask. 5- After the doctor has seen you the check out process is the same. 6- There is no one in our waiting room at the time of check out but you. 7- Our lab is still open and offering full services. Your lab appointment will be treated the same way as your office appointment. 8- We are currently not seeing patients with upper or lower respiratory tract symptoms or fever. I am personally speaking with these patients via telehealth. Most of the signs and symptoms can be managed over the phone and with over the counter medicines. I will give antibiotics when appropriate. My staff and I are here to meet all of you, your family or friend’s health care needs.
