Want to experience an Original Essence class in the comfort of your own home? Our beautiful instructor, Beki, will now be holding a Meditative Flow Yoga class at 7pm-8pm every Wednesday on zoom.
This class will focus on linking the breath with movement and tapping into the sensations of the body, all while relaxing the mind. A slower-paced class suitable for beginners and more advanced practitioners alike, this class will leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
Zoom classes are $10 by Paypal. Just reach out to us or Beki herself to reserve a spot!

Yoga and Love

When you hear the word love, what do you think of? Maybe you think of the passion and romance between lovers, or the deep understanding and trust between dear friends. Or, maybe you think of the strong bonds of family, the common vision held in community, connection with the Divine, or an unconditional acceptance of yourself. Maybe all ring true for you. During the month of February, love is a word that is thrown around quite frequently. Whatever way you think about love, love is the strongest, most powerful force in the Universe. I also like to view love as a practice, something I can do with intention in my daily interactions with those around me. Love, in its purest form, is about relationships.
Yoga and Love
Yoga is more than just a physical exercise; it is a practice that helps you get into alignment with you Highest Self. Practicing yoga is one basic way we can show ourselves love. Showing up on our mats helps us to foster a relationship with ourselves by caring for our physical, mental, and spiritual selves. For some, yoga is also a vehicle for connecting with the Divine, in whatever form that may take.
I have been practicing yoga for ten years, and the practice has been the ultimate testament of my commitment to myself and my own well-being. However, the benefits do not stop with my own personal life. When I focus on getting in touch with my Highest Self, I become a more mindful and present daughter, sister, friend, partner, teacher, and worker. By working on myself, I simultaneously better the relationships in my life. As I become more aware of my own inner landscape, I can show up for my loved ones with a clear mind.
Presence is truly the essence of love. How many times do we feel frustrated when we are spending time with a loved one and their attention is stuck on their phone? Complete and total presence is what we are craving, and yoga was integral in teaching me how to sit still and just be. So often, we feel we need to do something in order to be worthy of love, forgetting that at our very core, we are infinite love.
So, during the month of St. Valentine, instead of getting caught up in the flurry of chocolates and flowers, I invite you to reflect on how you can practice more love in your everyday life. Love is within us, and we choose how we show up in the world. Are you showing up in love?
