Alex Fillers interest in working with plants started in high school when he got a job at Woodleys Garden Center in Northeast Columbia. He loved working with people and learning about gardening. This interest grew as he volunteered with AmeriCorps City Year. Alex worked specifically with the Green Team, teaching Boston public school students about recycling and the environment. He also spent a summer as a park ranger on Lovells Island in Boston Harbor. All these experiences led Alex to conclude that working outside was a necessity. After getting a Horticulture degree at Trident Technical College, Alex set out to combine the parts of horticulture he likes besthigh quality work, environmentally-friendly products and excellent customer service. He created Palmetto Pride Landscaping in Charleston, SC in 2006. After four successful years, Alex decided to move his new family back to Columbia. He looks forward to bringing his passion for landscaping to his hometown.
