She may be small, but she is strong! Rowena was one sick little lady when she came to see Dr.Graham earlier this month. She was not feeling like a kitten at all; she didn't want her food and was very sleepy. After some bloodwork, we we were able to determine that her little body was fighting hard to beat a nasty infection! After days of IV fluids, medications and round-the-clock care she was feeling frisky and chatting away! She is now back at home with her two big brothers, scarfing down her food, and running around the house just like a kitten should.
We are super excited that round 2 of our turf upgrade has been completed! We are so glad everyone gets to play on these beautiful yards of green!

We have had to make the hard decision to keep the animal hospital closed throughout the day tomorrow, 2/16, due to hazardous road conditions.
However, the pet resort will be open from 8am-12pm for boarding check-ins and outs!
We will have staff tending to all boarding guests throughout the day!
We hope to re-open on Wednesday, but will post an update later in the day tomorrow.

HOURS UPDATE!
Due to several of our employees living out of town, little improvement in road conditions, and another winter front coming in early tomorrow afternoon, we are keeping the hospital closed.
We have nurse-on-call services for any questions you may have. For pet emergencies requiring immediate attention by a doctor, please go to Horn Lake Animal Hospital for 24-hour emergency care.
The resort will be open 8am-1pm for boarding check ins and outs. If you need any medication refills or prescription foods for your pet, we will be able to get those for you as well!
The weather outside is frightful but the mood at paws is delightful! We hope everybody is staying warm and safe on this cold and snowy day!
❄️ Due to the road conditions, we will be closing at noon today to get our staff home safely.
We will still have someone here to take care of all of our resort guests!
We will post more updates on tomorrow’s hours at the end of the day!

We plan on opening both the resort and hospital tomorrow. To give our employees enough time to make it to work, we will be keeping the later opening time of 8am, we plan on being back to 7am on Monday the 22nd.
The resort will only be open a half day for boarding check-ins and outs. The hospital will be open until 4pm, but due to Dr.Graham living about 45 minutes away, he won't be in until 10am. Drop off appointments can still drop off between 8 and 10 before he arrives.
If you prefer to stay home with your pet but would like to have an exam with Dr.Graham, we will still be offering telemedicine exams. Call us to schedule an appointment time.
Thank you to all of our amazing clients for being so understanding and supportive during this crazy week of snow!

If your pet is having a medical issue, you can bring your pet by Paws and Dr.Graham will be doing telemedicine exams while our hospital staff assists you and your pet!
Some people have not been able to make it up the driveway, so if needed, you are welcome to park at the bottom of the drive and walk up!

Due to the threat of inclement weather later this afternoon, we have decided to close the hospital early so that Dr.Graham and our staff can make it home safely.
The resort will remain open normal hours for pick up and drop off. If your pet is staying with us and has storm anxiety and you would like them to have something to calm their nerves, please call us before 7pm.

Sweet Nubi is still looking for his forever home! If you would like to meet him, his foster mom will be in Oxford tomorrow (Wednesday the 24th) through the weekend! Let us know and we will get you in touch with his family! This happy boy will make a great addition to a family looking for a four legged friend to love!

UPDATE: Nubi’s foster mom is coming to Oxford on Wednesday, March 23. If you would be interested I meeting him, please let us know by Tuesday so we can let her know!
Everyone meet Anubis or “Nubi” for short! Sweet Nubi is looking for a forever home. His foster mom has gotten him up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and he is heart worm negative! He is thought be around 8 months old and a Basenji mix.
His foster mom says he sleeps through the night and loves long walks, hiking trails, car rides, and other dogs. He is loving, trusting, energetic, patient, and affectionate. He loves being inside on his doggie bed, but he also likes being outside and people watching during the day. He does best when walking in a harness, as he is pretty strong and getting stronger.

Spring is finally here and with it comes the creepy crawlies!
We recommend year-round flea and tick prevention, as it never gets cold enough in Mississippi for long enough to completely eradicate all the pests. But, if you have stopped giving prevention this Winter, now is the time to get your critters back on it!
There are several diseases that ticks in Mississippi carry, such as Ehrlichia, Anaplasma, and Cytauxzoonosis (aka bobcat fever.)
Fleas, if ingested, can transmit tapeworms to your pet.
Even if your pet is a mainly indoor pet, pests are very good at making their way inside, even sometimes clinging to your clothing! Which is why it is equally important to keep indoor pets on prevention as well.
Call or stop by the hospital for more information on all of the preventions we carry!
