One of the problems with most wasps and hornets is that their colonies can be hard to find as they are aerial nesters and these grow as the colony expands so once discovered, it may house hundreds. We know what to look for and how to eliminate them.
Using insect spray to kill bees you see flying around your home is unlikely to solve the problem if you have a colony in or around your home. A bee control expert is trained to find the colony and ensure the bees don t return.
A couple rats or mice might not seem like a big deal, but they reproduce incredibly quickly. In fact, two rats can produce as many as 1,500 young of the course of a single year. A pest control expert can help you get rid of the rodents before they reproduce.
So what exactly are biochemical pesticides? These are naturally occurring substances that control pests using non-toxic mechanisms (such as insect sex pheromones that interfere with mating).
It s important to remember that the typical office has far more places for pests to hide than the typical home does. When you don t want to risk finding an unpleasant surprise in the break room or supply area, we re here for you.
Bees have worked their way into metaphorical usage quite nicely, and from bee s knees to a quilting bee, they have proven to be useful additions to the language. However, if your home is a beehive of activity, don t risk getting a bee in your bonnet let us safely remove these insects.
To keep pests out of your home, make sure you are properly storing your food. Protecting your food in sealed containers, keeping pet food off of the counter or floors, and keeping your kitchen clean of grease and oil and help reduce your risk of pests invading your home.
Did you know that fossil records prove that insects (like biting flies and external parasites like fleas and lice) predate human beings? However, it is highly likely that primitive man saw insects more as a food source than as a pest.
Depending on the type of ant and the location of the main colony, an exterminator may employ one of several different methods to eradicate them. This could include baits or non-repellent treatments designed to be carried back to the main colony.
Termites work together in a social colony similar to ants. There are soldiers that defend the colony, workers and reproductives that are born with wings and fly away to try to form new colonies.
Chemical insecticides are rarely selective and kill a large number of insects, including the good ones. The environment created by indiscriminate insecticide use often allows other insects not the initial pest but different insects seeking out food to rapidly increase in number because no natural enemies - beneficial insects - remain to prevent the population explosion.
The Norway rat is not from Norway. It is a brown or gray rat, and is also known as the "sewer rat," "wharf rat," "street rat," and "common rat." The most recent studies pinpoint its having originated in China and spreading as trade increased during the Renaissance.
Roaches can make you sick in a couple of ways. One is by depositing viruses and bacteria around your home. The other is by triggering allergic reactions to roach excrement and the skins that roaches shed.
Simple traps and sprays you buy at the drugstore are rarely effective in addressing an ant problem in your home for the long term. If you want to get rid of ants for good, an exterminator with professional-quality equipment and pesticides is your best bet.
Many pest control companies offer a one-time visit or a quarterly service where they'll return every three months to treat your pest problems. Should any pests put in an unwanted appearance between scheduled visits, most exterminators will follow up free of charge.
Do you have young children or elderly relatives at home? Bites from bed bugs will leave red, itchy marks that are particularly difficult for young children and the elderly to resist. Too much scratching can lead to infections, experts say.
Solitary bees include the carpenter, mason, and leafcutter species. Mason bees like to build their nests in crevices in old mortar, and they are not noticeably aggressive as they sting only when threatened or provoked.
Did you know that bed bugs are not strictly a Western problem? In fact, bed bugs can be found all across the world and infestations have been reported in South America as well as Asia, Africa, Europe, and Canada.
Are you concerned about your safety outside because of snakes on your property? Remember, a snake sticking out its tongue is often doing so to smell the area, not as an aggressive gesture.
Have you ever heard a bee tree? You can almost literally feel the buzz from a fair distance away, if it is a large one. Such hives used to be reasonably common, but not today- a sign of the decline of bees of late. A pro is definitely required to handle such a large hive, but they are certainly impressive to see.
Just because you can't locate bedbugs in your home doesn't mean they're not there. Bedbugs have flat bodies that can fit into very narrow spaces. They can conceal themselves behind wallpaper, in -- and even under -- carpeting and deep in the seams of mattress and couch cushions.
The Renaissance was perhaps the first time superstitious people began to view insect infestations less as a curse from God and more as a condition of the natural world. Scientific interest in insects began in earnest and with it more accurate observations. This led to the development of some of the modern world s first pest control practices.
When buying insecticides, make sure you get one that specifically deals with the insect you are having the problem with and not a universal spray.
Do you ever worry that all your ant control efforts in your lawn are simply making the ant colony move around instead of actually killing the ants? Rest assured that our team is always up to the challenge of dealing with your most frustrating ant problems.
One of the main characteristics of bed bugs is that they travel with their hosts. Bed bugs can fit into tiny areas in bedding and suitcases and move with you from one place of residence to another, even across the country.
Scientists say termites are a relative of the cockroach, though they look more like ants. The termite is one of the oldest inhabitants of the planting, with part of a termite found in a fossil that is more than 130 million years old.
What is more of a threat to new wood: termites or carpenter ants? Termites, definitely. In fact, while termites love to make a meal out of new and fresh wood, carpenter ants do not eat wood at all but they do nest in warm areas with damp or rotting wood.
