It reminds us that there are always other people out there fighting the same battle. Read these survivor stories from real women that won the fight against breast cancer, and also underwent breast reconstruction surgery with our board-certified plastic surgeons at the Breast Center Park Meadows Cosmetic Surgery. #breastcancerawarenessmonth

Q: How long until I can work out again after breast augmentation?
A: Start by taking short walks around the room immediately after surgery. Climbing the stairs is also appropriate. Early ambulation boosts circulation and helps prevent blood clots. After about two weeks, you can resume moderate activity including brisk walking. Don’t lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk for the first six weeks. After six weeks, you can resume more strenuous aerobic work and lifting activities.
When you receive a breast cancer or high-risk diagnosis, you embark on a multi-stage journey towards healing. We understand that you may be starting to think about reconstruction, exploring breast reconstruction revision, or considering reconstruction long after cancer treatment. No matter where you are on this path, The Breast Center Park Meadows Cosmetic Surgery is here to listen and help.
Saline implants are FDA-approved for patients who are 18 or older and silicone implants are FDA-approved for patients who are 22 or older. However, it‘s essential to wait to undergo breast augmentation after your breast tissue is fully developed. While breast development typically comes to a halt around your late teens, it’s possible for it to continue into your early 20’s. Read more on our blog! https://bit.ly/34cMcKR

Q: Which Breast Reconstruction Method Is Right For Me?
A: As a woman who is considering breast reconstruction, you may want to know the specific options available to you. The two main techniques are implant-based or tissue flap-based. Implant-based uses a saline or silicone breast implant to restore breasts. The flap-based method uses a section of your own tissue – we prefer a flap of fat and skin from your abdominal area that doesn't use any muscle from the donor site – to reconstruct the breasts. While the former method creates natural-looking, beautiful results, the latter is preferred by some women because it avoids artificial implants altogether. We recommend scheduling a consultation to learn more about your options! Call us today at 720-605-9731.
The diagnosis of cancer can be a frightening experience, however, through community and support, there is hope.

Fact: You can change your mind about breast reconstruction at nearly any time!! Modern delayed breast reconstruction procedures and techniques can offer aesthetically pleasing results in most circumstances, even if you were told that you were not a candidate in the past.
Learn about your options and receive personalized recommendations by scheduling a consultation at 720-457-4461. We look forward to meeting you!
Q: Is body contouring permanent?
A: Fortunately, body contouring procedures such as liposuction and tummy tuck surgery, as well as body contouring treatments like CoolSculpting®, are long-lasting. Your results should be visible for many years as long as you maintain a healthy weight. Gaining weight can cause your remaining fat cells to expand, which will likely diminish your results. Getting pregnant after undergoing body contouring can also hurt your cosmetic outcome.
To all those who have served, and those who continue to serve… Happy Veterans Day!
