On this day, we want to honor and remember the hero dogs that were called into action thirteen years ago. There were over 300 Search and Rescue teams at service at ground zero. Today let us give them the recognition they deserve.
If you have the time, watch this short video. Very heartwarming. http://www.thedogfiles.com/2012/09/04/hero-dogs-of-911-legacy/
Pictured below a Golden Retriever rescue dog keeps his cool as he is transported out of the debris of the World Trade Center four days after the attack.

The results are in: Toby is the nicest cat in the shelter right now. And he's also one of our longest-term residents! Why? No idea! In the words of volunteer Jack: "I said it before and am saying it again- Toby is the single friendliest cat at the shelter! He talks, loves to hang around you, and would be the best ambassador cat except for this darn pandemic. He’s nine years old and hasn’t a mean bone in his body." We're hoping he'll be adopted soon so he can be the ambassador cat to everyone in his new home! Toby has lived with other cats and even have experience with dogs.
If you're interested in adopting Toby, send in a completed adoption questionnaire! If you'd like to meet him prior to finalizing the adoption, we can facilitate that with an appointment to visit him. (Maximum two people per visit, masks required, and we'll follow correct social distancing protocols.) All adoption info, steps, and forms can be found online at: www.fairfaxcounty.gov/animalshelter/adopt/steps.

ICYMI: the first 31 dogs adopted during the month of October will get $100 off their adoption fee, thanks to the Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter and a partnership with Subaru and the ASPCA!
