"As classrooms open for in-person lessons, parents, teachers, staff, and students should know all the precautions to take to keep schools healthy and safe.
With the start of a new school year, Goose Creek CISD, Dayton ISD, Barbers Hill ISD, and Crosby ISD are taking numerous steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including mask requirements, scheduled hand washing, temperature checks, social distancing, and clear communication should anyone at the facilities receive a diagnosis of the disease. While the standards set by a global pandemic are by their very nature more extreme than those for cold and flu season, many of the habits encouraged still apply to other germs and viruses."

"In the Baytown and Greater Houston areas, fall allergies are as much of an inevitability as humidity and mosquitoes are in the summer. The air may begin to chill, but that doesn’t stop the local flora from releasing pollen and other airborne allergens. You deserve to feel free of the itchy eyes, runny noses, and unpleasant coughs that the season brings. Luckily, there are many ways to keep healthy this time of year, so no matter how your allergies manifest, you’re likely to find a viable solution. "

"COVID-19 may be health and safety concern number one in 2020, but it isn’t the only hazard you need to look out for this holiday season.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, in 2019, 17,500 people landed in the emergency room due to holiday decorating accidents, with an average of about 200 injuries per day. A further 162,700 children under the age of 15 received ER treatment due to injuries from choking on small toy parts and sustaining other damages from unsafe gifts. The holidays are supposed to be a time of respite and restoration before the busyness of a new year begins, and a visit to the emergency room is the antithesis of that. "

"Along with exercise, diet is one of the two major cornerstones to keeping your heart healthy. Even little tweaks here and there can have a huge impact on maintaining your body’s overall functionality. Heart-healthy diets emphasize nutrient-rich ingredients and dishes that reduce the amount of buildup in your arteries, and typically avoid excess fats and calories. If you want to adapt to a heart-healthy diet, either immediately or gradually over time, we recommend taking the following actions:"

"Although there have been improvements in combating the spread of COVID-19, we still need to take precautions to ensure our health and the health of our loved ones.
We’re going on about one year of the COVID-19 pandemic, and although we’re still masking up, social distancing, and sanitizing our hands, we’ve seen great tragedy happen in real time and great hope emerge. Over 28 million cases of COVID-19 have led to over 500,000 deaths so far, according to the CDC. There has been progress towards stopping the spread of COVID-19, however. Vaccines for the deadly respiratory virus are now available to select individuals, with more to come down the line.
As we reflect on the past year and the changes to our public health protocols, we offer this updated overview of what to know about COVID-19 as of March 2021."
