Attorney Kimberly Kendall Corral Awarded Leader on the Rise Award
We would like to congratulate Kimberly Kendall Corral on her selection as CSU Cleveland-Marshall's 2020 "Leader on the Rise" award!
She will be formally honored for this award at the 2020 Hall of Fame Celebration on November 6, 2020!
Her list of accomplishments that make her the ideal candidate for this award are lengthy, but a few of her more prominent reasons involve:
She was able to help Ru-El Sailor overturn his murder conviction after he spent over 15 years in prison for a crime he did not commit; secured the dismissal of charges against Charles Jackson after Mr. Jackson spent 27 years in prison for a homicide that he did not commit. She demonstrated her ability to fight for her clients by getting into the White House discuss a pardon for another client.
We are very fortunate to have her as a member of our team, and the area of criminal justice is even more lucky to have someone like Kim fighting to right some of the many injustices that exist in our system of law.
We are happy to announce our decision to expand the Port Clinton (Ottawa County) and Sandusky (Erie County) Ohio areas for criminal defense, DUI defense, and domestic relations. We have been working on this for a long time, already practicing there. But are happy to be able to fully expand into the area to provide the type of service our clients have come to expect from us.
Hats off to Attorney Kimberly Kendall Corral! She scored an amazing victory for her client today, the culmination of hours and hours of work. This is one of the most comprehensive post-conviction decisions that we've ever seen.
One of the reasons that we fight so hard to avoid unjust convictions for our clients is that once a person is convicted of a crime it is insanely hard to have that reversed, even where there is compelling evidence that you are innocent.
The amount of time, blood, and sweat (and often tears) that go into fighting these cases is hard to understand unless you're someone who is dedicated to it.
We're glad to see that Kim's client gets a second chance at life, and to have a fair trial.

Congratulations to Michael Thompson, a man who spent 26 years in prison (with about 20 more to go) for selling 3lbs of marijuana to a confidential informant back in 1994. 3lbs of marijuana netted him a sentence of 42 to 60 years.
Because of the relentless work of Attorney Kimberly Kendall Corral, who Im proud to call one of my senior associates, Michael Thompson is going to be released from prison where he can try to move on with his life.
Talk about one hell of a Christmas present! Congrats Michael, we wish you the best.
