Some of our little ones had their first pointe shoe fittings! Their first pointe class was last night and they all did wonderfully!

I would like to recognize both Ballet in the City and the Patterson School of Ballet, Inc. whom have supported my daughter Elana throughout this pandemic and kept her doing what she loves most: dance.
Last summer I brought her to a Ballet in the City Master Class with Sara Mearns and Harrison Ball of the New York City Ballet. She got a late start into ballet and was feeling frustrated and quickly losing confidence. What Ballet in the City Did Not do was cast her aside; instead they provided guidance and support on local programs such as Utica Dance to help enhance her year round training. She was also provided the Amazing Opportunity to become a Ballet in the City Ambassadors where she has had the privilege to continue to train with top industry professionals throughout this pandemic.
Through BIC she was able to apply and be accepted for a Scholarship to the Patterson School of Ballet, Inc. Owned/Directed by Mr. Michael Patterson. This, I have no doubt has forever changed her course of training, improved her self-confidence and continued her on a successful path of fulfilling her dreams. What Ballet in the City and Mr. Michael have given to my daughter is more valuable than words can say.
I have had the pleasure of observing Mr. Michael instruct his students both virtually and in person during the recent Summer Intensives. Mr. Michael demands hard work, dedication, and accountability but does so in a manner that is engaging, fun and challenging. Mr. Michael’s genuine interest in Elana’s success was clear from our first conversation back in May. He quickly added a virtual schedule to his already full day of instruction so she and other students would still be able to attend the 5 week intensive. In August she was lucky enough to attend the 2 week intensive at his beautiful studio in Erie, PA. It would be difficult to ignore his passion for dance. Elana would tell me how that she loved his classes because he has the ability to make everyone feel noticed and does so in such a manner that she wanted to make him proud of her progress. She knew he would be as excited as she was! My daughter left his summer intensives with improved technique, improved confidence and a renewed passion for ballet.
As a Dance Mom I can see the profound changes in my daughter since her involvement with the Patterson School of Ballet, Inc and Ballet in the City. As a parent, it is refreshing to see the focus on her positive growth-both physically and emotionally. This is especially important during a time such as now when a virus has stopped this industry in its tracks. BIC and The Patterson School of Ballet, Inc. stepped up, adapted and continue to provide a collaboration of top notch dance trainings for aspiring dancers whom undoubtedly can be the future of this industry.

Katelyn is a 14-year old student at the Patterson School of Ballet.
We are looking forward to all the 2021 has to offer and grateful that we can still continue classes amidst a global pandemic. A huge thank you to our students and faculty for helping to keep our space a safe environment for our students as well as their families.
