233 years ago, on September 17, 1787, the United States Constitution was ratified in order to create a new framework for the way our country is designed. This document provides a sense of direction for the three branches of government (Executive, Judicial, and Legislative). It outlines and restricts the duties and powers that the government has over the people while also creating more freedom for the individual states and their citizens. The Constitution was created by the people, for the people, and allows the people to keep the government accountable. Happy Constitution Day!
For some, 8:46 AM, September 11, 2001 signifies the loss of a family member or friend, but for all, it represents the loss of nearly 3,000 beautiful American heroes. The lives of the 343 firefighters, 60 police officers, and 2,574 citizens will never be forgotten, and neither will their sacrifice. Amid everything going on in the world right now, take a moment of silence to pray for the families of those lives that were lost. Together we are strong! #America #NeverForget #PatriotDay

Daylight saving time ends today, don’t forget to “fall back” tonight. Enjoy your extra hour of sleep!
Did you know…?
The first real experiments with daylight saving time began during World War I. On April 30, 1916, Germany and Austria implemented a one-hour clock shift as a way of conserving electricity needed for the war effort. The United Kingdom and several other European nations adopted daylight saving shortly thereafter, and the United States followed suit in 1918.

True leaders are comfortable creating adversity in order to achieve resolution. Martin Luther King Jr. was fueled by love, justice, and generosity, but he had the courage and wisdom needed in implementing those qualities to create change. He led a movement full of love and hope, instead of hate and destruction. This following quote perfectly represents the character this man embodied: "Everybody can be great....because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love."
Happy Martin Luther King Day!
Benjamin Franklin was a man of many talents, and he did his best to use those talents for good. He organized the first lending library and volunteer fire department all while pioneering investigations into electricity, mathematics, and mapmaking. Furthermore, not only was he a large component of drafting the Declaration of Independence, but he also negotiated the 1783 Treaty of Paris, which drew an end to the Revolutionary War. As part of Benjamin Franklin Day, our office would like to share one of his many famous quotes: “Work as if you were to live a hundred years. Pray as if you were to die tomorrow”.
