On this day... 19 years ago 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift. None of them saw past 10:00am Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same. As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted.

Scott's Tidbit. In honor of Black History Month, we would like to talk about Frederick McKinley Jones. Mr. Jones was an inventor and veteran born in 1893 in Cincinnati Ohio. He obtained over 60 patents most of which are in Refrigeration technology. As VP of Thermo Control he developed Thermo King, a portable air conditioner, which transformed the shipping and grocery industries. It allowed fresh and frozen food to be imported and exported around the world. Thermo King was was so revolutionary, Jones adapted it for military use in WWII. He provided AC to medical transport, military hospitals, and field kitchens. Modified versions are still in use today. Mr. Jones was the first African American to be inducted into The American Society of Refrigeration Engineers and awarded The National Medal of Technology.
Scott's Tidbit of the day. Did you know today is puzzle day. Puzzles help with hand eye coordination, fine and gross motor skills, memory and problem solving, along with shape recognition. The oldest puzzle is believed to be Stomachion also known as Ostomachion and dates back to 287 BC - 212 BC. According to Guinness Book of World Records the jigsaw puzzle with the most pieces had 551,232 pieces and was assembled by 1600 students in Ho Chi Minh on September 24 2011. So gather with your family and celebrate the 25th annual puzzle day.

The past few months have been unprecedented, as the country and our community have struggled with the COVID-19 virus. It is times like these when we see perseverance, innovation, and human strength come to light. One of our vendor partners, Global Plasma Solutions (GPS), began testing its needlepoint bipolar ionization technology in an independent laboratory against SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19. Those tests have been completed, and the results have been released. We are excited to announce that the GPS ionization testing results demonstrated a 99.4% reduction rate on a SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) surface strain within 30 minutes. To neutralize the pathogen, Global Plasma Solutions utilized its proprietary needlepoint bipolar ionization, which both removes harmful pathogens from the air, as well as any particulate matter that intensifies the spread of a pathogen.
In this laboratory study, Aviation Clean Air designed a test to mimic ionization conditions like that of a commercial aircraft's fuselage. Based on viral titrations, it was determined that at 10 minutes, 84.2% of the virus was inactivated. At 15 minutes, 92.6% of the virus was inactivated, and at 30 minutes, 99.4% of the virus was inactivated.
