Max’s story began in Texas where he was picked up - homeless and lame - and taken to a local kill shelter. Max’s luck in life changed when he was transported to a rescue in Iowa. Here a veterinarian found a previously broken hip and old buckshot wounds. He was adopted by his loving foster, had surgery to address his immediate medical concerns, and started rehab care! We are so excited to be a “Pawsitive” change in the life of this sweet boy! Max is a great example of the resilience of dogs!

Dogs recovering from FHO often suffer from poor range of motion. Our therapeutic ultrasound warms more thoroughly than a hot pack, assisting our patients and rehab technicians when working to lengthen muscles with passive range of motion.
Max had surgery on his rear leg, but you can see here that we are lasering his front, including shoulders and biceps. Laser therapy reduces pain and helps restore mobility. By lasering Max's shoulders and biceps we are helping to offset the extra stress put on those muscles when he is compensating for the weakness in his rear.
