You know- a lot of women experience being objectified in their own marriages.
A husband desperate for sexual attention looks past the lifeless body beneath them damaging their relationship and marriage in a way that they have no awareness of.
The lack of acknowledging a tired, stressed out wife... then pressuring her to do what helps him feel less stressed... leaving his wife to wait till all are asleep, including him, to do just 1 thing for herself.... destroys marriages and families.
Women, it's ok to demand to be seen as more than an object. It's ok to say no. It's ok to say no even if they get pissy, even if they give you the silent treatment, even if they make rude comments about you. It's still ok.

At PAX, it was our first mission to give the best services that were empathic and at the pace of our clients who suffered sexual abuse and assault.
During this journey of seeing hundreds of clients, it became apparent that sexual abuse was actually a symptom of a much deeper issue. An attachment issue. We found that the more abuse we saw, the real issues underlying sexual abuse- was emotional neglect and emotional abuse.
The combination of emotional neglect and abuse can create the perfect scenario for children, adolescents, and young adults to become victimized by predators. In these scenarios, victims often welcome grooming behaviors, or attention because at the core they are yearning for love and acceptance. They want to feel the depths of a hug to heal their feelings of separateness and loneliness.
The extent of sexual abuse is no longer surprising to us, and research now suggests that between 35 and 50% of women experience sexual abuse or assault prior to the age of 18, and roughly 16% (if not more) of men experience sexual abuse or assault prior to the age of 18.
This is significant.
Emotional abuse and neglect births the environment for vulnerability and victimization. When people who have attachment trauma in the form of emotional abuse, neglect and then have complicated trauma like sexual abuse or loss- we tend to see the formation of cluster B personality disorders: Borderline Personality, Narcissistic Personality, Histrionic Personality, and Antisocial Personality.
This string of events is critical in treatment. At PAX we understand the root of the issue, the painful complications, and the aftermath that results in C-PTSD, and often personality disorders.

The 3rd step of mapping where you are in your nervous system response is tuning into your thoughts. As you are mindful of your body, feeling your emotions, ask yourself- what are my thoughts? What is underneath what I am physically and emotionally feeling?

The Body/Mind Check in!
What does your body feel?
What are your feelings?
What thoughts are coming up?
The first step in figuring our what state your nervous system is in. The Ventral (calm)- Parasympathetic (Fight/Flight)- or Dorsal (freeze)
When you feel "triggered" how do you know?
This video talks about being able to distinguish which nervous system state you are experiencing by taking a
Physical
Emotional
And Cognitive
Inventory.
These inventories set us up to be able to use interventions targeted to bring our nervous systems into the calm (aka ventral) state.
