🎉Although the breastfeeding support group, which generally meets the first and third Wednesday of every month in the office waiting room, has been on hold for many months because of Covid, we feel it is a safe time that we can try to have a meeting this week!
We will meet from 5:30 to 6:30pm this Wednesday and you will have the opportunity to talk with old and new friends, weigh your baby, and get general support and encouragement for any breastfeeding issues you may have - or to celebrate how well you are doing!
Please wear a mask, and we will have plenty of room to spread out in the waiting room to maintain appropriate social distancing!

💉Flu shots are here!! We are happy to let everyone know that our shipments of flu shots have arrived and we are now offering walk-in flu vaccines from 8:30 to 4:30 Monday thru Friday.
🗓Or you can get your flu shots at any regularly scheduled visit as well.
👨👩👧👦 And yes we will vaccinate the entire family, including parents!
❗️We plan to have families go directly from check in to a clean room, so there will be no waiting in the waiting room. We also have flu shot stations set up in waiting rooms so we can facilitate anyone who walks in, while maintaining adequate social distancing.
😷 In addition, please know that all ill children with Covid symptoms have a separate entrance and area of the office, all in order to make sure we can vaccinate everyone in a safe and efficient manner.

Given all the conversations this week on gating criteria and returning to school, we thought we would highlight the data points that are applicable and help everyone understand where are currently. Swipe 👉🏻 for information.
For clarification purposes, the Johnson County Health Department has developed gating criteria based on the Johnson County Health Department data, which most school districts in the area are using to guide their decisions on the reopening of schools. This criteria is largely based on two factors: the percent positivity rate and the trend in new cases.
The Kansas State Department of Education has approved gating criteria based on the Kansas Department of Health’s data which can be narrowed down to particular counties. This criteria has five factors to use when considering the reopening of schools: student absenteeism, county percent positive case rate, county incidence rate per 100K population, the trend in new cases per population, and the local available hospital capacity.
The difference in calculations between the two data sources, @jocohealthdept and the @kdheks, are discussed in the FAQ published this week by the JCHD. See Stories 👆🏻 for a link to the information.
Regardless of which methodology is used, we are in the same situation - community cases are still trending too high for all children, teachers and staff to return to school in-person safely.

Our Holiday Spirit Week came to a close yesterday...

Side effects of the 2nd dose for our staff have ranged from absolutely nothing to 24hrs of body aches, headaches and sometimes fever.
