One great way to ease your baby’s teething pain is to provide them with something cool—not frozen—to put on their gums, like a chilled spoon, teething ring, or damp rag. You can also massage your baby’s gums with a clean finger or wet cloth or discuss using an infants’ versions of over-the-counter pain medications with your pediatrician. We recommend avoiding topical gels, as your teething baby will likely drool enough to wash the gels away before they can do much good.
Kids can’t get full braces until their permanent teeth are all in place, which occurs around age 12. But if they’ve had orthodontic prep work, they’ll likely have braces for a shorter period of time. At a younger age, a child’s mouth tissues are easier to move, and the bones are more flexible. And with less oral crowding, childhood tooth decay is less of a threat.

Acid and sweets are the dynamic duo of villains in the struggle for good dental health. Food and beverages that have high acidity as well as sweeteners can lead to tooth sensitivity and tooth decay. Even fruit juices and sports drinks that claim to be low in sugar content still have high acidity and can soften the protective shielding around your child's teeth called tooth enamel. Does that mean you shouldn't feed your child acidic foods like oranges? Absolutely not! Being aware of this issue and protecting your child's teeth by brushing and flossing after a high acidic snack or meal is a good way to prevent future damage. Continue the good fight of protecting your child's teeth and a sparkling smile will be your happy ending.

While exact timing may vary slightly, most kids reach dental milestones at about the same age. This makes it easier to know what to expect. https://ecs.page.link/7gnRW

What dental milestones should every parent be on the lookout for?
As they grow, children will become insistent on doing things themselves. Encourage this behavior especially when it comes to their oral care. Let them brush, with your supervision of course, to help them hone the motor skills necessary to become a skilled brusher. Remember to shower them with lots of praise and help when needed. Do this and in no time the protege will become the master.
Happy Monday! Our pumpkin decorating contest has come to an end and we have our office winners!

⭐️SUPERSTAR ALERT⭐️
Here is our winner of the Cavity Free Turkey Club drawing from November, Bradley! Everyone give our pal a BIG congratulations!
We hope everyone had a wonderful and safe holiday weekend!🦃
One of the best ways to teach is by example. This is why we recommend water as your go-to beverage when going out or eating.
Most kids don’t get enough water in their day, some will even go an entire school day without any at all! Setting this example for them can help them build better habits and lead to better dental and overall health!
Everybody wants to keep their teeth 100% clean, right? Well, remember to floss, because the space between your teeth comprises a whopping 35% of a tooth’s surface! So, get your favorite floss ready, and clean all those nooks and crannies.
Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Pediatric Dental Specialists!

"Good availability, great dentist for our 18 month old appointment and beyond. We called the answering service on a holiday weekend and heard back from the dentist almost right away. It's not the smoothest run or nicest looking operation, but the service is great." —Nicolas V.
Pediatric dentistry and orthodontics are distinct dental fields, but their differences can get confusing since they often overlap.

When cleaning our teeth, our toothbrushes collect food particles and other substances over time. This is why we should always give our brushes a proper clean every two weeks to make sure they can do the same for us!
Dolphin’s teeth have rings on the inside and, much like trees, they correspond with their age!
