Holiness – As a church, we are passionate about this character of God. We want to be holy because God is holy. Biblical holiness and sanctification is about being in the world but not of it. Just like Jesus who called the “misfits” of the society of his time as his friends, yet he remained pure and undefiled by reaching out to them with His love and forgiveness. This is our concept of holiness.
Service – True holiness is sacred busyness. Our Christian service is an extension of our sanctification. In his holiness, Jesus devoted himself to the service of His Father in heaven. Holiness kept Jesus busy and totally consumed by his mission of saving the world. Just like our Master, we want to keep ourselves driven, zealous and committed to the service of His Majesty.
The “South Bay Experience”
Pastor Jonathan is the one who coined the term, “South Bay Experience” describing the PMCC (4th Watch) of South Bay’s overall approach to draw in people to its growing ministry. Persuaded that the ordinary people are naturally drawn to beauty, authenticity and real value, Pastor Jonathan proceeded then to create an outreach paradigm that highlights no less than the beauty and glory of God among His chosen people. Beautiful doctrines. Beautiful people. Beautiful sanctuary. These are the areas of the church, he believes, where God’s beauty must be outstandingly displayed.
Beautiful doctrines. The true beauty in any given doctrine resides in its soundness (it must be biblical and apostolic), clarity (it must be clearly understood both by the heart and mind), relevance (it must speak to those present and in their present circumstance), and practicality (hearers must be able to make use or profit from it).
Beautiful people. What makes God’s people truly beautiful is its ability to consistently and faithfully live and serve according to the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ as taught by His apostles.
Beautiful sanctuary. A sanctuary that breathes the presence of God and sensitivity to the aesthetic tastes of people makes for a very attractive sanctuary for God’s people to worship.
