Families that come to Empower Life Center need your backing! Or rather, their babies do! We'd love any blessings of diapers size 4, 5, or 6 for our drive-thru on Tuesday, Nov. 17. Donations can be dropped off at ELC on Knoxville Ave. anytime Thursday (9a-7p) or Monday (9a-4p). They can also be dropped off anytime downtown. This is a big need for us right now so we can have diapers for our clients Tuesday, and all blessings are welcome!
Today we give our deepest thanks to the veterans who have served, and those who continue to serve. "But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever." (1 Tim 5:8) Centuries of faithful protection of their neighbors will continue to serve as an example of the selfless love we find at the heart of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Thank you for your sacrifices.

For all you who bless us by praying, fulfilling material needs, volunteering, donating, spreading the word and sharing our posts, we just want to say thank you for doing your part for the King.
Curt Meiss of the Barnabas Center says gifts are only one way of showing love. There are four more ways to do it. Click the link to learn more! http://ow.ly/aECv50BMw2P
Every Monday we have a staff meeting for prayer. We'd love an opportunity to pray for you as well, so we thought we would ask how we can serve you in prayer?
Praying for those who can gather this year, and for those who can’t. We are never truly separated when we are in Christ. We pray that God’s Holy Spirit is powerfully with you on this day of thanks, as on every day. - The board, staff, volunteers and guests of Peoria Rescue Ministries.
Today we remember Pearl Harbor, and the thousands of lives lost there in 1941. We remember that we, as Americans, can join together to overcome, to achieve and to be better than we were in our past. Today we honor them by living better lives than they hoped possible for us, founded in Christ, guided by the Holy Spirit for the glorification of God Almighty.
This season more than ever, it seems generosity has become the norm. For all who have blessed us, we appreciate it! If you haven't yet, and would like to, you can always visit our needs list. http://ow.ly/YWbb50CBI5I
On this Second Sunday of Advent, we light a candle for faithful love. We recall how faithful the loving prayers, gifts and volunteerism has been throughout 2020, and we count ourselves and our guests very blessed, indeed.
If your plans are usually open even on the weekends, we have a suggestion! Become a volunteer! http://ow.ly/yJJO50CBIf9
Got a case of the holiday grumpys? Just not feeling it this year? Maybe you need to try loving your neighbor. Curt Meiss from the Barnabas Center gives us some examples in his latest "Letters from Barnabas."http://ow.ly/a88I50CBKvY
We had a record number of clients come to our Empower Life Center Diaper Drive Thru this week: we served 50 families! Praise the Lord! In light of that we are running very low on clothing sizes 6mo-4T boy and girl clothes. They can be new or gently used. We are also in need of diapers, especially sizes 3, 4, 5, and 6. If you would like to donate, you can drop them off to Empower Life Center - 1825 Knoxville Ave, Peoria, Mon-Thurs. Aside from those hours, you can always bring donations to the Downtown Mission location at 601 SW Adams.
On this Third Sunday of Advent, we light a candle for Joy. We recall how we felt we would find little to be happy about in a pandemic, but that the comforting care of Christ filled our hearts with joy through the selfless love of people like you.
Holiday plans often include buying and cooking for a lot of guests. As that has scaled down some, we're hoping that you might continue to help us bless our guests with good, healthy meals through your grocery donations. Every little bit helps, and every little bit is used.
Loneliness around the holidays can be difficult to fight off. Barnabas Center director Curt Meiss shares how acknowledging how God sees you and cares for you can help you change your holiday blues. http://ow.ly/oFss50CBN3m
Our kitchen team cooks a great deal around the holidays, and they get very creative with the recipes to make what is onhand into a healthy meal. What's your most creative meal idea?
How are you approaching this Advent and Christmas holiday creatively and safely? We'd love to hear!
Peace rounds up the theme for Advent. Did you know that the Hebrew word for peace - shalom - means complete? So when you pass the peace of Christ, just know you're passing the wholeness, and completeness that Christ has brought into your life, the same wholeness you're helping our guests find with your generosity this season. Thank you!
That's right. We've been pretty good keeping afloat in the water department, but we could sure use some help with that again! Any blessings could be dropped at the Downtown Mission 24/7. :)
The latest issue of The Hope should be arriving in your mailbox soon! Hope it blesses! 😊🙏🏻
Miss Tremont 2019/20, Olivia Simkins holds up a gift bag next to a similar one held by Jacob Scherer. Together with Nic Poelker (not pictured) they managed to gather and organize a sizeable number of the bags filled with essentials for our shelter guests. Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness, you guys! It's a great blessing!
Some folks are finding out they're going to be a parent this month. If you're one of them, and you're worried you're not ready, visit Empower Life Center to find out just how you can go from scared you'll mess up to confident you can do this! http://ow.ly/1SgR50CERxh
The manger is full. The angels are singing. The glory of God is revealed. "For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men." Merry Christmas from us and ours, to you and yours.
On this blessed Christmas Eve, we light the Christ candle for the birth of our savior, Jesus Christ. Rejoice, a savior is born. A savior is born, indeed.

On the twelfth day of Christmas, we celebrate the glory of the lamb.
On the eleventh day of Christmas, we celebrate the sovereignty of our King Jesus.
On the tenth day of Christmas, we praise God while we have breath, for the gift of Jesus Christ. We didn't deserve such scandalous grace, yet He gave his son for us anyway.
On the ninth day of Christmas, we celebrate our Eternal God, who is strong to save. He continues to break chains through all you do in our ministry.

According to a January 2021 report by the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, homelessness and mental health issues have a daunting relationship. This is why now, more than ever, the Barnabas Center is an important part of our ministry. We provide low- or no cost, Bible-based mental health assistance not only for the guests we serve, but also for our community. Visit Peoriarescue.org/Barnabas for more details.
Kay and Tazewell County Right to Life (pictured with one of their volunteers and our volunteer Kitty Yontz) brought food and formula for the families served by Empower Life Center. They also donated a large amount of formula this fall. We are so thankful for their continued partnership!

Admit it, you can still here this pig. Enjoy your weekend and be blessed!
A lot of times, we ask how we can pray for you, but today, we’re asking you to pray for us. This morning we had a gas main leak that became dangerous enough for us to evacuate the building, including our guests. We didn’t want to say anything until now, as we didn’t have much more information. We moved the fellas to safety and the safety experts from CILCO, our HVAC and building maintenance specialists and the Peoria Fire Department have been working to find the issue and fix it. They are going to be testing our building to see if they can power us back up, as any gas leak means they cut power to the building to minimize the possibility of a fire or explosion. We would really love your prayers that we can bring the guys back and sleep here safely tonight. Most importantly, many of them need their medications as well. Thanks so much!
When we dread Mondays, we miss the chance to serve others. How do you plan to serve others today? 😀
Wishing you all the love the Holy Spirit can muster for your worship time today as you walk with God!

"We exist to see the Kingdom of God grow through human flourishing." What is human flourishing? In its simplest sense, it's human beings living in such close relationship to God, self, others and creation, that powerful, Holy Spirit-led growth happens.

On International Women's Day, we want to celebrate all the women who make our ministry possible with their time, talents and gifts. We remember that the first feet to carry the gospel message were the feet of women who came to show the last compassionate measure of care to a savior they thought had died but were overjoyed to discover had been resurrected.
Monday is here! For us, it's another opportunity to see the Kingdom of God grow through human flourishing! Which takes more coffee than we care to admit, so thank God for that! 😀
You have no idea how important the door of blessing your support opens for our guests is in their lives. Sincerely, thank you so much for your care and compassion in our work.

The best thing about starting your Monday at the Mission is seeing the faces of our guests. For example, Michael. Without your generosity he wouldn't have had the "time to really get serious about my health, budget, spirituality and making amends with the humans I’ve hurt or damaged." Because of you, Michael is on the path to Human Flourishing.
This is a day that the Lord has made! How will YOU rejoice and be glad in it?
Don't forget to move your clocks forward tonight! Or, rotate your sundial one hour to the "ahead" side for the hardcore, old school types. 😀
The difference you make in the lives of our guests is more than an opportunity, it's a powerful act of worship. We're so thankful for your faithful giving! PEORIARESCUE.ORG Donate Now

It may not be easy, but the best way to find a positive mental attitude is to take the negatives in your life to God through Jesus in prayer, with shouts, with cries, with exasperation, with whatever emotion is needed. "O Lord, I cry out to you, “Come quickly.” Open your ears to me when I cry out to you." Ps 141:1
In case we haven't said it lately, THANK YOU for all your generous ways that you serve, support, and otherwise help us create pathways out of poverty through Jesus!
How are your Palm Sunday preparations coming? The King is almost here!

At PRM, we continually strive for a deeper understanding of our ministry. Discussing our values, the first one on the list is that we are passionately gospel-centered. This means, we are informed and animated by the good news of a loving God, who pursues, saves, keeps, renews and enables us by His grace, through Jesus Christ alone.
