Pet Emergency Treatment is now seeing patients for MRI, CT scans and fluoroscopy with our in house partner, VISA (Veterinary Imaging Specialists of Alaska). We are excited to be able to offer these services to Alaska. No longer do we have to fly our precious pets out of state for these services or try to squeeze them into a human hospital.
Have a Happy New Year, but don't forget about your pets. Even though fireworks are illegal in the municipality, they happen and scare some of our 4 legged friends. Suggestions would include planning ahead with anti-anxiety medication (for your pet), cotton balls for the ears (just remember to remove them afterwards), and keeping your pet on a leash when taking outdoors so they do not get lose when scared. We usually see many pets running lose scared by fireworks, don't let yours be one of them.
Remember not to put presents containing coffee, macadamia nuts, or chocolate under the tree or gift them to unsuspecting friends without telling them to put them up and away from pets. We see a large amount of pets ingesting chocolate, coffee, and macadamia nuts this time of year.
