On this cold, snowy day it's nice to imagine somewhere a little warmer. Right now for instance Jakarta (The capital of Indonesia) it is only 5 AM and already 75F. Luckily we can have a little bit of this tropical paradise in our house. Tiger barbs are from Indonesia as well and have very impressive vertical stripes with bright red fins. These fish don't work in every aquarium though as they tend to be a little more aggressive. This can be countered by keeping them in a larger group where they keep each other in check. Large spaces are best for these fish, with a 25 gallon aquarium being the ideal minimum, but they love any size larger. These fish do well with other barbs including rosy and cherry barbs, red tailed sharks, corydoras, and plecostomus.
