A small sampling taken from 4 bins of left over film packages when everything abruptly became digital. I switched at the end of 2001, and I wasn't even one of the earliest adopters. 2/3 of the studio refrigerator was filled with film at the time. The last film job I did was January 2002––a group photo of the Hebron Board of Selectmen and required 120 color negative film for the large print they requested. My first digital camera didn't have enough MP for the job! Nowadays this old film hangs around as a fond reminder of the old days––which actually I'm glad are gone. Having done both analog and digital photography for quite a while, I prefer today's way.
My studio and I are ready to handle safe procedures as we reopen to serve clients who need to move forward with their own business. Contact me to discuss your concerns and needs and we can structure an effective and safe plan.
A nice shot of Jesse in the studio from January 2020. One of the most fascinating parts of shooting portraits of people is the wide range of expressions that can happen. It’s a real treat to have an animated, responsive, and comfortable person in front of the camera. Facial transformations during a shoot may come naturally to some, and not to others. In the batch of shots Jesse and I took, this was the most standout. The others were farther down the top-ten list––all because of changing expressions.

Gov. Lamont’s reopening task force may allow some businesses to reopen May 20 with safety precautions. My studio is prepared to do so with face masks, cleanliness, 6’ social distancing, and maximum 3 people present (two others + photographer). Safety of all people involved is paramount. You can reach Peter by phone, text, and email and he'll respond promptly. See also: https://portal.ct.gov/ctrecovers
BTW, when you remove your mask as we begin shooting, you and I are approx. 8 & 9' apart(as in the photo), thanks to working with a 70-200mm lens. My mask stays on.
Jackie Orfei-Pagel is doing what she does best (portrait makeup) before shooting photos of Ariana in the studio. I'm amazed at what she does and admire her skill. There are big advantage to doing makeup at the studio immediately before shooting–no rain, wind, humidity, heat, jackets, seatbelts, or perspiration to mess things up. It's nice to work with top people!
One of my favorite winter-time bare tree branch photos. From February 3, 2011. I was dropping off my wife Nancy's lesson plans at Smith Middle School (Glastonbury) when she was unable to go to work. Lots of snow on the ground that year and ice on the trees that morning. Whether overcast, bright sun, clear sky, clouds, or something else, how could you resist admiring the beauty of it all?
