Serving authentic New Mexican cuisine since 1949 and located across the street from historic Harvey House Museum in Belen, NM. Owners, of the cafe were a young couple by the names of Pete & Eligia Torres; together they created a basic menu of breakfast items, burgers, and bowls of chili & beans. In time, their menu transitioned into one that is mostly New Mexican cuisine. Their vision has proven to be both very popular and successful. Since then, our menu has expanded to include such favorites as oven baked Carne Adovado, crisp and flavorful Chile Rellenos and of course cheese, beef or chicken enchilada plates. Most entrees may be topped with the family recipe for red and green chile. Pete's sopaipillas are often said to be among the best in the area. To fully complete your meal experience at Pete's, save a little room to sample at least one or two of our Best in Valencia County in-house desserts! Today, Pete's celebrates 70 years of serving the community of Belen and surrounding areas. Amazingly, the Torres family is still satisfying hungry guests at the same location. We invite all to come and take part in the Torres tradition and visit us at our historical location for a genuine New Mexican dining experience!
