About

I became an Allstate representative in 1978 when I opened my agency in the Sears store, after working in claims the three years prior. My father was an Allstate representative and retired in 1991, so I guess you could say Allstate runs in the family! Having lived in the Chicago area my entire life, I knew I wanted to help local families in the Barrington community protect what matters most to them.
Barrington is a great town. Itโ€™s full of friendly, down-to-earth people with great family values. I'm proud to serve as a trusted Allstate agent for the community and do my best to stay involved and support local causes. I'm proud to support Turning Point, a women's shelter, through the Allstate Foundation Purple Purse; Help USA Troops, which was started by an Allstate employee; the Lake Zurich Fraternal Order of Police; the Northern Illinois Food Bank; and the K.L.E.O. Community Family Life Center. I'm also a member of the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce.
Outside of the office, my four daughters and five grandchildren keep me busy. I was a foster parent for many years and all four of my daughters are adopted. When I'm not hitting the water park with my grandkids, you'll find me golfing, gardening, working out or tackling projects around the house.
I became an Allstate representative after watching my father in the role. I was inspired to give back and help others in my community, and I can say the satisfaction I get comes from the belief I can help others by assisting them in preparing for the unexpected. My staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and some have been with me since the 1980s. Whether you're a condo owner looking to protect your property or want to review your home and auto policy, we can help. Stop by our office today to say hello or to chat about your coverage options.

Here are some interesting facts that you may not know: Supermarket apples can be a year old. ๐ŸŽ Sloths can hold their breath longer than dolphins can. ๐Ÿฌ Itโ€™s impossible to hum while holding your nose. ๐Ÿ‘ƒ And property insurance policies don't automatically include flood insurance. ๐Ÿ’ฆ Since floods ARE the most common and costly natural disaster AND 20% of the time, they occur in low-risk areas; we thought you would like to know! The good news is that there's a separate flood policy available, and we can help you put it in place! Are you ready to talk about it?
If you've had a package ๐Ÿ“ฆ stolen, you're not alone. Theft from porches and doorways is becoming an increasingly common problem across the U.S. ๐Ÿ˜จ According to a recent survey by the Illinois-based packing solutions company, Shorr Packaging Corp., nearly one in four adults in the United States report that they have had a package stolen. If you suspect this has happened to you: โœณ๏ธ Check your bushes, garage, or other places where drivers may have left them. โœณ๏ธ Check with neighbors to verify that it wasn't delivered to the wrong address. โœณ๏ธ View home security footage if you have it. โœณ๏ธ Ask the seller of your item about their policy on stolen packages. โœณ๏ธ Contact your credit card company. Many offer purchase protection. To prevent theft: โœณ๏ธ Accept deliveries in person. โœณ๏ธ Send packages to an alternative location such as an Amazon locker. โœณ๏ธ Use a video doorbell to alert you when a package is delivered. โœณ๏ธ If the item that you've ordered is expensive, insure it through the retailer. If you have questions about how your homeowners or renters policy can help a situation like this, let's talk.
1234 accounts for 10.7% of all pins, followed by 1111 and 0000. Studies show that these three combinations together account for 18.6% of pins. Wow! ๐Ÿ˜ณ Perhaps it's time to create a PIN that's a bit more unique...

A skimmer is a card reader that is disguised to look like part of an ATM. When you unknowingly slide your card into an ATM with a skimmer attached, it scans and stores all your information from the magnetic strip and captures your PIN from the keypad. ๐Ÿ’ณ The collected card data can be used to create a duplicate card which can then be used to make ATM cash withdrawals. This is how a thief's ATM scanner can look. ๐Ÿ’กExperts advise pulling on every ATM and gas station scanner you use. If the device comes off in your hands, you'll be glad you tested it!

๐ŸซWhy is chocolate toxic to dogs? It contains theobromine and caffeine. Both of which can speed up the heart rate of a dog's nervous system. ๐ŸŽƒ As we are heading towards Halloween, here's a reminder to keep it out of reach of your four-legged friends.
Over the years, you may have heard the term โ€œ10 and 2 drivingโ€. ๐Ÿš™ This is regarding the position in which you should hold your hands on the steering wheel. This is typically described in terms of how your hands' placement relates to the numbers on a clock. โฐ But, the technique for proper hand placement on the steering wheel has changed over the years. NHTSA now recommends the placement known as โ€œ9 and 3โ€. The 10 and 2 oโ€™clock position is no longer recommended because it can be dangerous in vehicles with smaller steering wheels equipped with airbags.
Here's a common question.โ“ "If someone hits my vehicle while it is parked, what can I do to protect myself?" ๐Ÿš— Hopefully, the person responsible left a note. Or there are security cameras ๐ŸŽฅ or witnesses ๐Ÿ‘€ of the incident. But if you can't locate the person who caused the damage, it's your auto policy's collision coverage, which will likely cover the loss. A deductible would apply here. And, collision coverage is optional, so if you chose not to buy it, you would have to pay for repairs out of pocket. Uninsured motorist property damage coverage could also pay for damage caused by hit-and-run drivers in states where this type of coverage is available. If your insurer locates the responsible party for the damage and recovers some or all of the repair costs, you may get a refund of your collision deductible. Side note: Only 12 percent of all reported hit-and-runs (2016 statistics) were solved, so ensuring you have the coverage to protect yourself makes sense.
๐Ÿถ Sure, dogs are considered by many as man's best friend, but that doesn't necessarily include the mailman.๐Ÿ“ซ In one incident, when a dog bit the mailman, causing an injury...๐Ÿ‘ฎ It was a renters insurance policy that paid out for his medical bills. It's sometimes easy for people to think that they don't have enough "stuff" to justify carrying a renters policy. Yet, it can protect you from more than you might realize.
As we head into the holiday season, here's a reminder of what foods dogs can and can't eat... โœ… Apples, bananas, blueberries, carrots, cheese, chicken, eggs, green beans, honey, kiwi, mango, oatmeal, peaches, peanut butter, pears, pineapple, cooked potatoes, pumpkin, rice, sweet potato, and yogurt ๐Ÿšซ Alcohol, avocado, caffeine, chocolate, coffee, fat trimmings, garlic, gum, grapes, macadamia, milk, mushrooms, onions, pits and seeds, potato skins, raw potato, raisins, rhubarb, salty foods, tea, walnuts, and yeast dough Taking the time to study this info can certainly save you some grief!
During a BBQ, a woman stumbled and fell. She assured everyone that she was okay. While she appeared to be a bit shaken up, Jane went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening, but she had actually suffered a stroke. Had bystanders known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Jane would be alive today. Neurologists say that if they can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours, they can reverse the effects of a stroke. The trick is getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and treated within 3 hours. If even one of these tasks is a challenge, seek emergency medical attention. Here are the things to look for...
To get boat insurance, you need to own a boat... or car insurance, you need to own a car... or exotic snake insurance, you need to own an exotic snake. But, when you own a rental home...you canโ€™t get homeowners insurance. Whatโ€™s up with that? If you plan to rent out your entire home to tenants, you'll need landlord insurance to insure the property... And your tenants will be responsible for insuring their own belongings. If youโ€™re so inclined, you could post a sign in your home that says โ€œNot Responsible for Lost or Stolen Items.โ€ Your friends and family will think youโ€™re crazy, but you could do that. Either way, you should have the right policy in place.

Social host liability laws vary widely from state to state, but 43 states have them on the books. Most of these laws also offer an injured person, such as the victim of a drunk driver, a method to sue the person who served the alcohol. If you are hosting even a small Super Bowl party, here are some quick tips: โ‡๏ธ Encourage guests to pick a designated driver. โ‡๏ธ Limit your alcohol intake so that you will be better able to assess your guestsโ€™ sobriety. โ‡๏ธ Offer non-alcoholic beverages and serve food. โ‡๏ธ Stop serving liquor toward the end of the party. Switch to coffee, tea, and soft drinks. โ‡๏ธ If guests seem unable to drive, arrange a ride for them. โ‡๏ธ Give an intoxicated guest an all-expense paid night in your guest room or on your couch. Whether you are cheering for the Chiefs or the Buccaneers, start with a game plan that minimizes your liability risks. ๐Ÿˆ
๐Ÿถ For many of us, dogs ARE an insurance policy. However, once a dog has bitten someone, it poses an increased risk. In such a case, an insurance company may charge a higher premium or exclude the dog from coverage altogether. The average dog bite claim is $30,000. If a claim exceeds the limit on a property policy, the dog owner is personally responsible for all damages above that amount, including legal expenses. To reduce the chances of dog biting, experts suggest following these steps: ๐Ÿ”˜ Spend time with a dog before buying or adopting it. ๐Ÿ”˜ Use caution when bringing a dog into a home with an infant or toddler. ๐Ÿ”˜ Be sensitive to cues that a child is fearful or apprehensive about a dog. ๐Ÿ”˜ Have your dog spayed or neutered. ๐Ÿ”˜ Socialize your dog so that it knows how to act with other people and animals. Do you have questions about coverage for your specific breed? Let's talk about it. ๐Ÿ“ž
Most of us have that one drawer in our homes, the junk drawer. It serves as a place to store random items. ๐Ÿ”‘๐Ÿ”ฆ๐Ÿ”“๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ“Žโœ๏ธ So what's the one thing you should avoid throwing into the junk drawer? Loose and exposed, 9-volt batteries. ๐Ÿ”‹ Why? Because loose metal objects in the junk drawer can short out a 9-volt battery and ignite a fire. ๐Ÿ”ฅ If you do have them, itโ€™s best to keep batteries inside of their package or keep the posts covered up with tape. It's just a simple precaution you can take to save yourself from unnecessary grief. โœ…
In many instances, the cost to rebuild a home is more than its market value. ๐Ÿ  Yet, after the ๐Ÿ“‰ housing market correction of 2008, 25 percent of people polled by the Insurance Information Network thought they should lower their home insurance coverage because market values had gone down. This thinking can result in a homeowner having insufficient coverage if they need to rebuild after enduring a total loss. ๐Ÿ˜ณ Typically, lenders only require that you have enough insurance to protect the balance of what they have loaned you. Yet, homeowners need to have enough coverage to rebuild their home and to replace their possessions. At least once a year, take the time to go over your property policy with your insurance agent. ๐Ÿ“…
