This month is #EmotionalWellnessMonth and we think it's particularly important to raise awareness this year.
Emotional wellness shows that people can manage feelings in a positive way. It might be difficult to cope with the challenges that this year has brought β COVID-19, news headlines, elections, hybrid model education, homeschooling, Flu season, etc. β but emotional wellness helps ground us. Staying positive is not easy, but there are techniques to help you manage negative thoughts and perceptions.
Here are 6 ways to improve emotional health, even during tumultuous times:
βοΈ Brighten your outlook and redirect your thought process.
πββοΈ Reduce stress and find time to exercise.
π΄ Regularly get a good night's sleep.
π» Strengthen social connections β even if it's virtually.

If you've been exposed to someone who has COVID-19 and you're worried you might have gotten it too, don't panic.
We strongly encourage testing β but not right away. Here's what our advanced team of providers recommends:
πΉ Whether you're symptomatic or not, please self-isolate for 5-7 days after your suspected exposure.
πΉ During those first 5-7 days, do not get tested. The virus will not show up in a COVID test until after that time.
πΉ After the first 5-7 days, reserve a test here: https://bit.ly/2Ym69L8

So, you got a COVID-19 test. Now what?
Here's everything you need to know about your results:
β‘οΈ COVID-19 virus test results may take up to 7 business days to be returned to us from the lab.
β‘οΈ Due to the surge of COVID-19 cases at this time, test results may take longer than expected.
β
We appreciate your patience and understanding, as the delays in test result turnaround time are directly impacted by the high volume of testing for both local and national labs.

Brr, Northeast winters sure get their share of snow, don't they? βοΈ
Stay safe while shoveling! To avoid a backache, or worse, follow these easy tips:
βοΈ Work slowly and stretch before you begin.
βοΈ Shovel only fresh, powdery snow because it's lighter than compact snow.
βοΈ Lift with your legs, not your back.
βοΈ Don't work to the point of exhaustion. Ask for help!

You've begun experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, and your mind is swimming with questions about what to do. You might be asking, "Do I need to go to the hospital?"
β‘οΈ Chances are good that you can skip the ER visit.
β‘οΈ Most cases of COVID-19 produce relatively mild symptoms and don't require hospitalization.
β‘οΈ However, every situation is different and we do NOT recommend ignoring severe symptoms such as difficulty breathing, bluish coloring in the lips or face, persistent chest pain or pressure, sudden confusion or severe drowsiness.
If you or a loved one experience severe symptoms, call an ambulance or go to the ER immediately. π₯

Getting tested for COVID-19 after exposure is a smart decision, but how soon should you get tested?
βοΈ The best time to get tested is 5 to 7 days after exposure.
βοΈ Thatβs because the incubation period of the virus is 14 days, and it takes some time for it to build up in your system.
βοΈ If you get tested too early, your collected samples may not contain enough of COVID-19βs genetic material to register it as a positive result.
βοΈ A negative result might simply mean that your body did not contain high enough concentrated viral levels for a positive measurement.
Click to read our blog post about testing and what you should do while waiting to be tested.
