Are you suffering with “MASKNE?” Dr. Harry Dao, a dermatology at Lima Linda University shares some insight on this: Dr. Dao says “maskne isn’t a new phenomenon, as medical professionals who have worn masks can attest to this pesky skin problem, but the condition has become more widespread amongst the general population.” He offers 6 care tips you can use today to protect your face from mask irritation. 1. Wash your face first – Use a gentle cleanser that is free of fragrance and oil and rinse with lukewarm water. “This prevents dirt and oil from being trapped on the skin surface, which cause breakouts,” Dao says. “Your face should always be clean before you put on your mask.” 2. Apply a moisturizer – Not only will this keep your skin hydrated, it will also act as a barrier between your face and your mask, reducing friction. Apply onto a cleansed face before and after wearing a mask. Dao says to look for moisturizers that contain ceramides, hyaluronic acid, or dimethicone, which will provide extra protection. Take care to avoid fragrances amongst other common contact allergens. This may take trial and error to find the right formulation for your skin type. 3. Ditch the makeup – Wearing skin makeup under a mask causes clogged pores and breakouts, according to the American Academy of Dermatology. Makeup residue will also soil your mask. 4. Wash your mask – If wearing a cotton mask wash it after each use as its surface contains dirt and oil and can become a breeding ground for bacteria from your nose and mouth. 5. Choose a fragrance-free laundry soap – Fragrances can irritate your skin — skip the fabric softener, too. 6. Stay away from harsh products – Medicated skin care products that contain benzoyl peroxide, retinols and salicylic acid will be more irritating to the skin under a mask — be careful about how much and what you use.

By the end of today, nearly 130 people in the US will die from opioid drug overdose. The human body is incredible. It’s amazing how our bodies allow us to walk, talk, think, learn, grow and then do it all again the next day. Albert Einstein once said: Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid. In a recent study from the University of Michigan a theory was confirmed that we’ve believed and witnessed first hand for many years at Pinecrest Dental, which is that over-the-counter pain relievers such as Tylenol and ibuprofen actually perform better and more effectively for most people as compared to prescription or collects or opioids. Here what the new study found earlier this year: A U-M research study published in March 2020, however, found that patients who were prescribed opioids after tooth extractions reported more severe pain than patients who received different pain medications. The alternatives were over-the-counter pain medications like acetaminophen (Tylenol) and/or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (Motrin, Aleve). I’ll emphasize the findings again. People who were prescribed narcotic pain relievers after wisdom teeth removal, reported more severe pain than patients who received alternative pain medications, such as over-the-counter anti-inflammatories. So, next time you have a surgery, consider these less harmful alternatives.
October 29 is World Stroke Day. According to the WSO, 14 million people suffer with strokes each year and 5.5 million die. Today, about 80 million people all over the world are living with the aftermath of strokes and their effects. The WSO says about 90% of strokes could be prevented by addressing a number of small issues - including diet and exercise. Did you know that more and more research is tying in the health of your teeth and gums and their link to strokes? If you aren’t already, be sure to keep up on your home hygiene, and have any untreated dental work taken care of in a timely manner to avoid going down this path. ♥️ #stroke #dentalhealth #worldhealth

Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before, Maybe brushing to hard and drinking diet soda, was what was making his gums so sore. Every Who down in Who-Ville, the tall and the small, Was singing. Without any bad breath at all! He hadn’t stopped their smiles from coming! They saved their teeth from gum disease, So that they could avoid more of that gross numbing! 🙂 YOUTUBE.COM Avoid “Grinch breath” this Christmas!
