Are you the only guy in your group of friends who owns a truck? Keep your diesel truck in tiptop shape so you can be a good friend and help with those tough moves. Also it’s not a bad thing to have a couple of favors owed to you.
Did you know the inventor of the diesel engine originally worked as a refrigerator engineer? Rudolf Diesel designed not only the diesel engine, but other heat engines as well, one of which was a solar-powered air engine.
Semi trucks make up just 15% of commercial trucks in the United States, yet they travel 42% of all miles covered by commercial trucks.
The best way to take care of your diesel truck engine is through regular preventative maintenance and servicing. This includes keeping the air filter clean and regular oil changes, and well as taking care of any minor repairs as they come up.
When it comes to commercial vehicles, a single layer paint job can be vulnerable to acid rain, hard water, industrial pollution, tree sap, acidic bird droppings, and even splattered bugs. A clear top coat can help your paint look like new for much longer.
Did you know that the average amount of gas used in a year by all trucks is around 50 billion gallons? This consist of all standard gas and diesel truck. However, this is only around 13% of the average gasoline consumed.
ASE Certified mechanics have passed the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence professional certification. This requires mechanics go through training and testing every five years to maintain their certification.
A diesel engine uses a four-stroke cycle: intake, compression, power, and exhaust. It is during the compression and power cycles that the force needed to run the engine is generated.
When we perform the required safety inspection for your truck, we will need to see your records of the equipment, including the tests conducted on push-out windows, if applicable, and all emergency markings.
So how does tractor trailer misalignment affect tire wear and durability? Since the steering tires are constantly slightly turned to keep the truck moving straight, this can cause them to wear more quickly. And since it takes more energy to turn than to go in a straight line, fuel economy will suffer as well.
Pickup trucks are different than cars and have vulnerabilities that are different also. For example, pickups can often, because they routinely carry heavier loads, be prone to oil burning and leaking problems. Motor oil that drips and stains driveways and parking lots is a tell-tale sign.
According to the federal highway investigators, rollover accidents happen when a semi truck goes onto a loose and slippery surface and the driver overcorrects while trying to steer it back onto the road.
A semi truck’s suspension system is unlike the system that you’ll see on a car. Not only can they have air suspension systems that aren’t on the vast majority of cars, but it also has to deal with tandem axles and dual-wheels. That’s why you should only take it to a semi-truck suspension expert.
Did you know that hauling heavy loads can increase transmission wear rate? In fact, trucks that haul loads can sometimes expect to only get about half the life of their transmission. For optimum truck transmission health, remember to schedule regular maintenance.
A common cause of radiator failure in semi trucks is a sticking or failed thermostat. In this case, the thermostat will need to be replaced, as, without it, the radiator can’t accurately detect how much coolant should be pumped through the engine.
Depending on the problem, many parts can be safely replaced with rebuilt parts. They perform as well as new parts and are significantly less expensive. Some repairs, though, can only be made using new parts.
Not all radiator damage requires a complete replacement of the system. Many leaks or holes can be repaired using basic soldering or brazing processes, or by applying heat resistant epoxies to repair damage to plastic. We will assess the problem and present you with all the workable options.
