As a tax preparer for over 25 years I urge you to vote NO on the “Fair Tax” Amendment. This article is one of many reasons why Illinois residents do not and should not want this to pass. I also included a link that outlines other changes that will happen should this pass. It could affect several of my senior clients (many of them retired teachers) by opening up their retirement income, pensions, social security, etc., to be taxed. These clients are not “wealthy” and for some, it could be devastating. Also, if you are married, you could see a hefty marriage penalty if you vote yes. This is not the time to be raising taxes on anyone and neighboring states are doing the opposite! Please do your research and PLEASE vote a big NO on the “Fair Tax”!
