"During the COVID-19 pandemic, I began my externship at an Urgent Care. It was a new experience for me, especially with learning about all the new precautions, personal protective equipment, and safety measures used to treat patients. I was able to build amazing relationships with the healthcare providers and coworkers at my site. I felt prepared with the clinical skills I learned in my classes. Being able to help and communicate with patients, during these hard times, reminded me why I chose to become a medical assistant and I know I made the right choice!"

Career Pathways Program at Plaza College!
#PeopleofPlaza: Martha is currently a student in the Paralegal Program. Her interest in the Paralegal major, started as a teen when she would go to Barnes & Noble to read books on law, as well as sit in public courts to listen to cases. She enjoys doing research and solving problems.
Her most memorable times at Plaza College have been “working in the Student Life Department, making new friends, supporting other students, being social in the Commons, and finally, chasing my professors for help and questions about assignments. I have wonderful memories of doing the 2019 Breast Cancer Walk with the Plaza Team and being elected to President of Alpha Sigma Lambda (the liberal arts honor society)."
Director Lazarus of the Paralegal Program says that, “Ms. Rios-Nunez is a bright, hardworking student who is always prepared to participate in class discussion. She shows initiative in completing her assignments and is always willing to assist her classmates. She is an asset to the paralegal program and will be an asset to her employer.”
#PeopleofPlaza: Mariah is currently a Dental Hygiene student expected to be done with her coursework in December 2021!
Ms. Quinones shared that her most memorable experience at Plaza College has been instrument pick up, “because it made it real. That's when you know you’re going to be a medical provider and treat patients.I’m looking forward to doing community outreach and treating family members from different walks of life to provide them with the best care possible.” She says she’s been welcomed with open arms starting as an employee and now a student since coming to Plaza College, giving her “a whole 360 of what the school represents.”

Dr. Anderson has been the Medical Assisting Program Director at Plaza College for over a decade! He explains, "The students that we work with here at Plaza are the future of healthcare. Plaza College provides students with the necessary knowledge and
technical applications they need to be competent Medical Assistants. Their courses teach them how to effectively perform phlebotomy, read EKGS, and prepare patient charts. Medical Assisting is a unique program because it trains the student in the administrative and clinical components of healthcare."
