At Plymouth Place, we love pets! Our annual tradition to celebrate the Feast of St. Francis (patron saint of animals and the environment) is to position trees throughout our community for residents and staff to honor or remember their beloved pets.
All week, our chaplains will be blessing pets who are part of our community of residents and staff or praying for the memory of a pet who has gone before us.
What are the names of your pets, living or who have passed on, that we can remember this week?
One of the best ways to come together in a time of being separate is to create. Community art projects have been an incredible source of joy and inspiration for our residents and staff over these last months.
Did you see our Tree of Life in the Place of Peace? Our community created it together.
Our current project is a Community Fiber Arts project that will be a wall hanging when it is finished. Who wouldn't want to participate in such a great project (especially while enjoying some wine!)?
These may just be tubes of lotion and aluminum foil, but to our associates, it means two fewer items needed from the store.
Our Plymouth Place Pantry continues as a once-weekly way for our associates to know Plymouth Place cares about them and their families, and we appreciate their commitment to serving and protecting our residents.
Our pantry is one of the many reasons we are a Great Place to Work US for the second consecutive year, based upon our associates' feedback. Do you want to #lovewhereyouwork? Come join us! https://www.plymouthplace.org/careers/
Welcome to the Place of Peace. To quote one of our two chaplains, the Place of Peace is "Like a chapel. More than a chapel. Not a chapel. Not a church but a sacred place all the same. Peace. Comfort. Resources for meditation. The magnificent Tree of Life wall sculpture. Soft wall colors. A tad bit off the beaten path. A place for quiet, meditation, prayer and to calm and focus. Open to residents, staff, and families 24/7/365."
Sometimes, we all just need a moment of calm to breathe.
Our outdoor Fall makeover is complete! We're enjoying the vibrant mums and starting-to-change leaves, not to mention some bright peppers to add a little spice. 🌶
It's going to be a true fall-weather weekend; enjoy!

Plymouth Place is proud to welcome Arlene Arroyo as our Director of Nursing. Arlene comes to us with exceptional skill and experience, and we are thrilled to have her as part of our team!
What would fall be without an Oktoberfest celebration? We're having a great time with our small group, socially-distant gatherings - a safe way to spend time with friends, enjoying delicious food and beer (because what Oktoberfest dinner would be complete without it?!)
Time to celebrate another of our incredibly talented residents! Sue is a painter, and her work is featured this month in one of our professional art galleries. It was a treat for residents and staff to hear Sue talk about her pieces!
What a terrific surprise! As part of their #SewTogether campaign, Tieks by Gavrieli generously donated these beautiful handmade masks to keep our community safe.
Our awesome CFO, Rebecca, is almost always donning her Tieks (check out that awesome pair she has on today!)
Thank you so much, Tieks, for this wonderful gift!
We're Halloween-ready! Residents had a great time crafting Halloween centerpieces to decorate inside their residences or on the shelves outside their doors. It's looking pretty festive around here!

More than ever before, we're all seeing calls to shop small and support local businesses. How's this for local?
Our AMAZINGLY talented residents have set up The Plymouth Place Artisans Holiday Shop with handcrafted goods right here in the gift shop.
Have you ever really paid attention to the way you feel while you create? The way your mind either clears to only focus on the task at hand or perhaps does the exact opposite to work its way through something that may be troubling you? Have you noticed the calming effect of putting a brush into your paint color of choice and the sensory delight as you see your chosen medium take hold of the paint?
Everyone is an artist, regardless of perceived "talent." Take a look at some of the beautiful art created this week as our residents took a breath and enjoyed the process of creating something great.

“On this Veterans Day, let us remember the service of our veterans, and let us renew our national promise to fulfill our sacred obligations to our veterans and their families who have sacrificed so much so that we can live free.” - Dan Lipinski
Today, we are thankful for Margo! You may have seen her this summer showing off areas of our beautiful community by video.
As our Sales Leader for almost a decade, Margo has worked with a great many of our independent living residents and their families. She is thorough, detailed, hard-working, and her laugh will bring a smile to your face. Residents and staff trust Margo, and that is such an important trait for someone in such an important role in our Plymouth Place family.

"The way a crow
Shook down on me
The dust of snow
From a hemlock tree
Has given my heart
A change of mood
And saved some part
Of a day I had rued."
- "Dust of Snow" by Robert Frost
The ladies in these two pictures work tirelessly for the residents and staff at Plymouth Place. They represent Support Services (which encompasses all operations - environmental services, dining, maintenance, grounds, IT, security, and concierge) as well as Life Enrichment. Our community literally could not operate without the contributions of these rock stars and their teams, and we are so fortunate to have them!
We are #plymouthplacestrong.
We are #plymouthplacestrong. This weekend, 550 members of our Plymouth Place family (including more than 99% of our residents) received our first Pfizer vaccines, administered by Walgreens.
We are #grateful to be making history!
These gentlemen right here.
A crew of seven security and maintenance team members, in addition to their other very important duties, delivered a whopping 3,111 packages in the month of December to our residents and staff. That is over 100 packages a day!
During a holiday season when so many weren't able to see their families, these selfless, caring men literally delivered holiday wishes to the many members of our Plymouth Place community.
Thank you, Tyron, Dan, Efrain, Frank, Pat, DeAndre, and Jake!
Plymouth Place was founded 76 years ago by members of the Congregational Church with a mission of serving seniors with excellence. Today, our residents come from all faith traditions, as well as some with secular views. Regardless of background, everyone is welcome, cared for, and respected.
Our Place of Peace was recently dedicated with its official opening and blessing. Our wonderfully talented art therapist, Anita, was the driving force behind this Tree of Life, created as a socially-distanced community art project where residents and staff added leaves representing their role in our Plymouth Place family. This outstanding and moving piece is the focal point of the Place of Peace, a center for pause, prayer, and/or reflection.
Peace to you in 2021.
