Expectant mothers in need of urgent care can now visit a new obstetrics emergency department at South Shore Hospital. The new obstetrics emergency is a first of its kind in Massachusetts. It’s meant for women who are at least 20 weeks pregnant or up to six weeks postpartum and may be experiencing a pregnancy-related emergency.

As cases of COVID-19 continue to rise, we’ve updated our visitor policy.
Effective December 1, 2020, visitors will not be permitted in South Shore Hospital's Inpatient Units, Emergency Department, and Emergency Room Observation, Annex, and West units, with very limited exceptions.
Labor & Delivery and Maternity patients will be allowed one support person who can visit freely for the duration of a patient's stay.
