Last night our Chairman Steven A. Tsavaris was honored as one of the "Kings of the Bronx" by the Bronx Times. After 10 years honoring the power women of the Bronx, last night’s virtual networking event celebrated several successful business men and their positive impacts on the Bronx community. Mr. Tsavaris’ response? “While it’s flattering to be dubbed a “Bronx King”, King is a very strong statement, especially under today’s environment with Covid. Today’s kings are our first responders and essential workers. They are all Kings and Queens. Those not always recognized as essential workers are our Ponce Bank colleagues who faced the uncertainties daily in order to fulfill the financial needs of our communities and our customers. Back on My Feet is a non-profit organization that combats homelessness through the power of running and essential workforce development training. Our Business Development Manager Robert Bullock and Senior Ponce Banker Ion Craciun from our Stuyvesant Town Branch recently hosted a webinar on Credit Repair 101 for participants in the program. 40 stakeholders from Back on My Feet learned how to monitor their credit score, budget and prepare for the journey of becoming financially independent. As both a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) and a Minority Depository Institution (MDI) we are #PonceProud to establish local partnerships like this one with Back on My Feet as to promote financial wellness and economic advancement throughout our communities.
Sharing is Caring! Our Jackson Heights team recently partnered with SHAREing & CAREing, a Queens based organization that supports cancer survivors with education, support and advocacy services to minority communities. The outreach event hosted in our Jackson Heights branch served as part of the Ponce de Leon Foundation’s Bilingual Community Outreach activities. Rosa Sarmiento, SHAREing & CAREing’s Bilingual Spanish Navigator, along with Ponce bankers provided cancer awareness material, COVID-19 prevention information, and PPE supplies to Ponce customers and community members in an effort to help raise awareness among the Spanish-speaking community of Jackson Heights.
