About

Ponce Bank was born in The Bronx in 1960, when most banks had abandoned what many perceived to be a community in decline but in which our founders saw nothing but the potential of proud neighborhoods anchored by a strong immigrant work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. They dreamed all that was needed was a financial fuel, and in the 60 years since, we’ve provided that fuel for this engine of creativity and resilience as we helped develop pockets of this spirit throughout The Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and New Jersey. We never landed in comfortable places, choosing to help where help was needed most, and during this time we’ve become trusted partners throughout the communities we serve. Our designation as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) certifies this role as an investor in the future of underserved and underbanked communities. Today, we affirm our commitment to the diverse communities we were founded to serve 60 years ago.
We all face an unprecedented challenge in the COVID-19 pandemic but our communities have especially suffered at the hands of this vicious virus. Our hearts open to those suffering, including the small-business owners, the property owners whose rental income helps pay the bills, our heroic first responders and all the workers and immigrants who’ve fueled the rise of our neighborhoods in recent decades. We share our Ponce Love to the many legacy customers upon whose vision and hard work these thriving communities were built and want you to know that Ponce Bank remains here to help through these difficult times and those that lie ahead. We were there in 1960; we are here today. Ponce Bank. Dreamers Welcome.

Last night our Chairman Steven A. Tsavaris was honored as one of the "Kings of the Bronx" by the Bronx Times. After 10 years honoring the power women of the Bronx, last night’s virtual networking event celebrated several successful business men and their positive impacts on the Bronx community. Mr. Tsavaris’ response? “While it’s flattering to be dubbed a “Bronx King”, King is a very strong statement, especially under today’s environment with Covid. Today’s kings are our first responders and essential workers. They are all Kings and Queens. Those not always recognized as essential workers are our Ponce Bank colleagues who faced the uncertainties daily in order to fulfill the financial needs of our communities and our customers. It’s an honor to serve with you all.” We couldn’t be more #PonceProud of the compassion and humility of our Chairman.
Back on My Feet is a non-profit organization that combats homelessness through the power of running and essential workforce development training. Our Business Development Manager Robert Bullock and Senior Ponce Banker Ion Craciun from our Stuyvesant Town Branch recently hosted a webinar on Credit Repair 101 for participants in the program. 40 stakeholders from Back on My Feet learned how to monitor their credit score, budget and prepare for the journey of becoming financially independent. As both a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) and a Minority Depository Institution (MDI) we are #PonceProud to establish local partnerships like this one with Back on My Feet as to promote financial wellness and economic advancement throughout our communities.
We recently lost a powerful champion for equality in Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Her passing leaves a void on the Supreme Court and in the heart of America. She led an amazing life as a trailblazer who steadfastly championed women’s rights and many other under-represented groups throughout American Society. She leaves an inspiring legacy that is worth fighting for. We are weeks away one of the most important Presidential Elections in our lifetimes that will reverberate for generations to come. It is imperative to take a stand for our democracy, make your vote count, and preserve the legacy of a beloved New Yorker, the Notorious RBG. #vote #vote2020 #nycvotes
In the next few weeks, we’re going to share the stories of our business customers who got their PPP loans through our bank. Their stories have deeply inspired us and reminded us, once again, of the impact we have for our customers and the larger communities we serve. We remain true to the mission to serve the local, underserved communities in the greater New York City area. We share their stories here to celebrate their tenacity, entrepreneurial spirit, and our commitment in continuing to be their financial fuel. #ponceproud #customervoices #ponceppp
We continue to partner with @backonmyfeet, an inspiring organization that uses running and community building to help homeless people gain education, employment and housing, while empowering them to become self-sufficient ‘one mile, one job, one home at a time.” Thursday Oct 1st, branch Development Manager Robert Bullock and Senior Ponce Banker Ion Craciun from Stuyvesant Town Branch led an engaging budget 101 presentation coaching a diverse group of members about the basics of budgeting. We are #PonceProud to continue forging local partnerships that offer financial education that bridges the wealth gap in our communities. #financialliteracy #budgeting101 #ponceproud #BoMF

All of our branches and ATM vestibules have security technologies with 24/7 monitoring that ensure the safety of our customer and institution. We are collaborating with local authorities to help identify the suspects involved in the robbery that took place at our Westchester Avenue branch “We were kind of shocked that that would happen in today’s environment, and we obviously would help the police as much as we can” noted our President, Carlos Naudon. Rest assured we have your safety in mind as well as the well-being of the victim who underwent such traumatic experience but thankful that she was unharmed; our hearts goes out to you and your family. Studies have shown that practicing gratitude plays an important role in strengthening your mental and physical health so we asked our Ponce Bankers what they feel grateful for. Business Development Manager Marlon Barrett got right back to us. “I am thankful for my son Myles. He is a breath of fresh air and energy while also being the calmest and most collected baby one could ever dream of.” Thank you Marlon for sharing a loving part of your life and such heartfelt sentiment! What are you thankful for? Comment or tag below. Sharing your Ponce love is good for both body and soul! 💙🙏🏽 #agradecidospor #iamthankfulfor #poncelove #gratitude
