Monday morning plumbing humor

Popping ahead about a week because it is after 2 AM, so why not?
Mama Nature seems to be trying to send us an October-like cold front around September 8-9. We're talking one of those 'temperatures drop 35+ degrees' fronts. We'll have to wait to see, but fall may be around the bend. This graphic shows the American model's overnight ensemble average for low-level temperature anomalies next Monday evening (below average or above average - not a specific temperature forecast). This is just a model guesstimate that will surely be off, but the question is - how off?
Overall, the various reputable weather models (deterministic and their ensembles) bring a happy cold front down our way in about a week. Looks like we'll get to play 'find the cold front' a bit early this year.
No, that doesn't mean it's going to snow next week or be #WinterIsComing. Well, at least not in Texas. The Rocky Mountains up in Colorado and Wyoming may get an early-season winter storm.
Considering this post will probably go viral thanks to the fact we're all sick of summer - check out our free mobile app at https://texasweather.app. It has free interactive weather radar - and will also be useful in tracking our little front next week. :) ~David

ONLY IN 2020! Have you ever seen 6 waterspouts swirling at once? It happened in the Gulf of Mexico off Louisiana’s coast. 😮

This 16" OD wooden water pipe (installed 1799) has a 4" ID Tee connection. It was pulled out of Troy NY's water system in 1974. The logs were most likely hand augered at that time in history. credit: Troy Water Department

You may want to steer clear of the IH30/IH35E interchange in downtown Dallas today.
Follow these tips today to avoid costly repairs tomorrow and over the next week or so when it begins to thaw out!
Cold Weather Plumbing Tips:
1. KNOW YOUR PLUMBING: Leave trickles of water going on inside faucets especially when the plumbing is located on an exterior wall.
2. COVER OUTSIDE FAUCETS: Disconnect outdoor hoses from the faucets and cover them with an outdoor faucet cover. If you are in a pinch wrapping the faucet in a towel can often be sufficient. Pay extra close attention to winds coming from the North.
Also realize that none of these tips are fool-proof in preventing a freeze-break and/ or leak. Taking these steps can greatly reduce the probability of unexpected costly plumbing repairs and water damage.
Please share to spread the knowledge!

We highly recommend faucet covers! Also make sure your hoses are disconnected, especially during freezing temperatures!

Freezing temperatures can play a major role in plumbing nightmares. Remember to disconnect your hoses, and consider getting a faucet cover for your outdoor hose bibbs to help protect them from the freeze!
