The Port of Chehalis is one of 76 public port districts in the State of Washington. The Port is a municipal corporation governed by three elected Port Commissioners serving six year terms each. Since its formation in 1986, it has been the Port's goal to encourage economic development and job creation. It is also important to the Port to preserve the high quality of life historically enjoyed by area residents, recognizing that this feature is one of the Port's strongest assets. Economic vitality of a community is an integral part of high quality of life for its citizens. Increased employment opportunities, a reduction in unemployment, and increases in real incomes can improve the overall quality of life in the area. In furtherance of its goals, the Port of Chehalis is a public developer of industrial and commercial property and facilities.
