5. Provide Structured Interactions
• Only give attention throughout the day when your pet is calm and is not asking for attention
• Ask your pet to sit/lay down prior to an activity – this includes feeding, going outside, before throwing a toy, etc. This helps to establish focus and structure to the pet’s attention-seeking behavior.
6. Pharmacological Intervention (Medications)
• For most separation anxiety, pets will need some form of anti-anxiety medication to treat the underlying anxiety.
• These types of medications have been shown to be safe and effective in dogs and cats.
The best way to avoid separation anxiety from developing is through prevention! Practicing the tips above, now, will help when it comes time for you to return to work. If you are concerned your pet may already have separation anxiety, please give us a call!🐾

We are open to provide care! In order to keep our staff and pet parents safe during the COVID-19 outbreak, we are implementing new procedures. We now offer curbside drop-off and pickup ONLY, limiting access to our lobby. Upon arrival to our hospital please remain in your car, call us, and we will give you instructions on how to proceed at that time.
