Ms. Linton is our October Teacher of the Month. She is our Preschool Pathways teacher and has been in early education for over seven years. One of the things she loves about working at Primrose School of Fort Worth West is observing the difference she makes in day to day interactions with her students. She is currently working on her Child Development Associates, the most widely recognized credential in Early Childhood Education. We are thankful to have Ms. Linton in our Primrose Family. Thank you for all you do for our young students.
Things are getting crazy at Primrose School of Fort Worth West during Crazy Hair Day.
During Circle Time, Mrs. Criswell uses oversized books with rich vocabularies as a tool to engage her students. These books, used in our Balanced Learning curriculum, were chosen carefully to address a variety of early literacy skills.
Our students and staff had fun dressing up for Characters Day today.
Our Early Preschool students explored creature tracks this morning during Early Art Masters. Ms. Cummings and Ms. Medlin gave the students toy animals and showed the students the animal's feet and legs. The children then used a stamp pad, paint, and paper to make animal tracks. They created several types of tracks from different animals and then compared and contrasted their animal tracks.
During Project Time this afternoon, our Pre-K students sorted objects by temperature. The students used pictures to sort using their "My Temperature Chart" workmat. Ms. Criswell held up each image and asked them if the object was cold or hot. The students then glued the item in the hot or cold section.
Our Primrose Friend Erwin showed our Early Preschool students a white pumpkin during Early Art Masters and then said, "Oh, look, children, the pumpkin has lost its color! Today we are going to paint our pumpkin all of the beautiful colors that we see in fall. We see red, orange, yellow, and brown. Can you think of any other colors that we see? The season of fall is so colorful; let's help our pumpkin get colorful again!" As the children took turns painting the pumpkin, Ms. Cummings and Ms. O'Rear talked to the students about their brushstrokes by saying things like, "I notice that you are making long up and down brushstrokes. Can you think of another type of brushstroke?"
Our political correspondent, Ashley Doan, is on the campaign trail talking to our infants.
Our students and staff wore orange and dressed up like a cat to celebrate Katie's Birthday yesterday. Throughout October, our students will be learning about Katie's character trait, cooperation. Cooperation is an essential life skill that helps us work successfully in groups and interact harmoniously with others. Learning to be a cooperative person is an integral part of our Character Development and Life Skills program.
We are celebrating our Primrose friend Katie the Cat's birthday today. Our friend Katie® is a curious cat who is interested in people's lives. She's polite and fun to be around, helping children learn how to share and care for each other. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact our communities, we see food insecurity levels increase across North Texas. Before the epidemic, the North Texas Food Bank was providing 1,000 pounds of food a week. They are now giving away well over 2,500 pounds.
At Primrose Schools, we are committed to making a difference in our local communities. Our Caring and Giving program provides an opportunity for children to experience what it means to help others. During November, Primrose School of Fort Worth West will be collecting packaged and canned food for the North Texas Food Bank. This caring and giving event is part of our Primrose Promise and Character Development Program. Helping our children learn and practice good character traits through real-life experiences is essential in helping our students become kind, compassionate individuals.
Our food drive will run from November 4th to November 17th. You can drop off donations in the lobby during drop-off and pick-up times.
Congratulations to Ms. Medlin for being our November Teacher of the Month. Ms. Medlin works in our Early Preschool classroom. She is the oldest of four children, has been in childcare for three years, and is extremely creative. We love her positivity and how she is always willing to jump in and help out where needed. Our school is fortunate to have such a strong and compassionate teacher.
Congratulations to Ms. Medlin & Mrs. Criswell for winning our teacher Halloween costume contest. You guys looked amazing.
Breaking news! We have counted the ballots and have a new Primrose President. Our political correspondent, Ashley Doan, is on the scene.
We want to thank our students for participating in an essential part of the American Democratic process. Thank you to our teachers for their help making this election fun and engaging. A special thank you to Ashley Doan. She started as our Director of Admissions about a week before we pitched this Primrose News idea, and she was all in. Her southern charm and spontaneity brought our campaign news videos to life.

We are delighted to announce that Ms. Wood is our February Teacher of the Month. Ms. Wood has been working in childcare since 2002. She earned her teaching degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and is certified to teach children through sixth grade, Secondary English, and Special Education. She is currently working on completing her graduate studies in Curriculum Design and Instructional Technology.
When she isn't at work, Ms. Wood loves to travel. She has taught in New Hampshire, Vermont, Texas, and Shanghai and volunteers with several organizations dedicated to cancer research, including Susan G. Komen and the Cancer Research Foundation. Ms. Wood has also been an animal transporter for local animal rescue groups, giving animals a broader audience for adoption.
Our school is honored to have such a dedicated, experienced, and compassionate teacher in our Pre-K classroom.
We are thrilled to announce the Clark Family as our February family of the month. We asked them to say a few words about themselves and their experience at Primrose.
"Hello from the Clark Family, Bodie (10 months), Troy, and Jana. Bodie is in the Young Infant Class at Primrose, and boy does he love his Teachers, Mrs. Chron and Ms. Maldonado! The Balanced Learning approach at Primrose is what initially drew us in, but we quickly realized there was so much more to appreciate. We send Bodie to class each day, knowing he will be loved, his mind will be challenged, and he will be able to explore in a variety of ways. We would be remiss if we didn’t add that one of Bodie’s favorite things about school is the meal plan, especially baked ziti day!
Troy is a Fort Worth Fireman, and Jana is a Vice Principal in HEB ISD. On the weekends we love to enjoy the outdoors and spending time together.
We have really enjoyed getting to know some of you and are happy that our kids have been able to enjoy some social time together, while most of the world is not. We look forward to meeting more of you in the future!" – The Clark Family

Meet the Primrose Friends!
Our young students thrive on predictability, and time patterns help them know what will come next. Our Director of Education, Michelle Walker, wanted to say a few words about our next unit of learning that centers around patterns of change.
Our Preschool students learned how to bake a pie today during Small Group Math. The students started the lesson by reading "How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World" by Majorie Priceman. Our young students then connected the story with the real-life activity of making an apple pie in class. This fun math lesson taught our students how to follow instructions in a sequence and how to take measurements. While the children prepared their apple pies, their teachers asked leading questions like "What type of cooking do you see at home?", "When someone is cooking dinner, how is the meal prepared?", "Do you ever get to help with the cooking?" and "What types of food do you cook in the Dramatic Play area?"
