Throwing it back to the beginning of the week when we celebrated International Teachers Day. Our awesome families showered our teachers with lots of love notes to show them how much they mean to us. We are so grateful for you teachers!

Sometimes drop offs start with tears. And sometimes they end in awesomeness. When you have special talents...you spread smiles.
We are so proud of these super masked heroes! Our Venture Program (3, 4, & 5) students have been doing an amazing job being brave and wearing masks to school this week. Just like superheroes, they are ready to protect their friends. To all of our masked and marvelous students...keep up the great work!

Primrose Bash Monster Mash
An interesting study on the impact of child care transmission of Covid in communities. The findings seem to be consistent with what we are seeing in the Primrose system nation-wide. While there are cases in Primrose schools, we have not seen "breakouts" of cases.

Learning citizenship is part of every Primrose student's experience. That's why Veteran's Day is a perfect time to celebrate our bravest citizens. Today, our Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten classes enjoyed a very special treat. U.S. Coast Guard officer and, most importantly, Jonathan and Michael's dad, Officer Fiddes joined us by Zoom to read the classes books about serving our country. Thank you Officer Fiddes, we really enjoyed learning from you!
Thank you, veterans for being brave like a lion and serving our country. Today we have a very special guest reader who will read Proud as a Peacock, Brave like a Lion by Jane Barclay. Happy Veteran's Day to all of our heroes who ensure our safety and protect our country.
There is no doubt that it is a difficult time in our community. If it's true that all you ever need to know you learn in Kindergarten, then there is hope that this generation will be prepared for the challenges that arise in life. From cooperation to kindness, from respect to responsibility, we weave values and character development into our daily lessons and constant fun. There may be discourse in the country, but there is love inside this school and our students will carry it into their future. As we finish up a tough week, take care of each other. We are in this together.
It's election day at Primrose Midtown! Our Venture students have been busy campaigning for the candidates and imagining what it would be like to be President. By casting their own votes for our presidential Primrose Friend mascot they learn to understand how to respectfully voice their opinions and by voting on their favorite school lunch, they learn how their voice can have real-life results. Today isn’t about a particular candidate. It’s really about showing the students how fun voting can be and why it is important to all Americans. We were fortunate to have our Kindergarten students work tirelessly to count and chart the votes and the results are in....Mia has won the election and the students have voted for pizza for lunch!
Did you know there is an election today? Primrose students vote for their favorite Primrose friend. May the best candidate win!
What a fun-filled day at Primrose Midtown! Every princess from around the village and all the superheroes in the galaxy stopped in to dance, play, and giggle all day. Don't forget to join us tomorrow at 3:30pm for the Primrose Bash Monster Mash! A virtual dance party that you won't want to miss. DJ Willy Wow will spin his records and lead us all through dances and games. We'll see you online!

Meet the Primrose Friends!
We are so excited to see this incredible initiative come to fruition. I can not think of a better group of people to honor for their hard work and dedication during this pandemic. “Child care and Georgia’s Pre-K Program teachers were on the frontlines of COVID-19’s impact on our families and communities from the very beginning, caring for the children of first responders and essential workers,” said Governor Kemp. “We can’t say enough about the outstanding work and flexibility of Georgia’s child care workforce and Georgia’s Pre-K Program, both during a pandemic and every day,” said Commissioner Jacobs. “These supplemental payments are a small, but tangible way, of expressing our thanks to our early care and education teachers. You can’t put a price on the confidence and peace of mind of knowing that your children are being well cared for and educated even in the most challenging times, but we have that confidence here in Georgia.”

Governor Brian Kemp and Commissioner Amy M. Jacobs today announced plans to provide $1,000 supplemental payments to eligible Pre-K teachers, assistant teachers, and child care teachers in Georgia. These payments will be funded through the federal Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG) funds provided in the most recent Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021. These payments are targeted for programs which remained open throughout the pandemic.
“Child care and Georgia’s Pre-K Program teachers were on the frontlines of COVID-19’s impact on our families and communities from the very beginning, caring for the children of first responders and essential workers,” said Governor Kemp. “Throughout the pandemic, we have remained laser-focused on ensuring that parents can return to work safely with the knowledge that their children are well taken care of. I thank Commissioner Jacobs and her team for working tirelessly to administer these funds and support children, parents, and educators throughout Georgia.”
“We can’t say enough about the outstanding work and flexibility of Georgia’s child care workforce and Georgia’s Pre-K Program, both during a pandemic and every day,” said Commissioner Jacobs. “We have been working on a comprehensive plan for using the new Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG) funds provided in the most recent Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 in supporting the workforce, child care providers, and families. These supplemental payments are a small, but tangible way, of expressing our thanks to our early care and education teachers. You can’t put a price on the confidence and peace of mind of knowing that your children are being well cared for and educated even in the most challenging times, but we have that confidence here in Georgia.”
In the next couple of weeks, DECAL will publish eligibility criteria in accordance with federal law and begin disbursing pay to Georgia’s Pre-K and child care workforce.
To date, DECAL has awarded over $92 million in Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG) funding to licensed child care programs in Georgia impacted by COVID-19. In the first round of STABLE (Short Term Assistance Benefit for Licensed Entities) payments, DECAL awarded more than $38.8 million in financial support to 3,789 licensed child care providers. A second round recently awarded $54 million to 3,677 providers. The money paid out so far represents about two-thirds of the $144 million Georgia received this year under the Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG) provided for in the Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

As we set off into the long weekend in honor of Martin Luther King Jr., we are reminded of what a peaceful world we would live in if the children had their way. I have a dream...
The school was filled with music and giggles yesterday as we hosted our first ever Virtual Holiday Caroling event. Thanks to the wonders of technology (and a pesky little pandemic) we had the opportunity to have moms, dads, grandparents, and friends from all over the country join us for the performance. Celebrating holiday traditions from various cultures, the students serenaded us with joyous songs and the most adorable (and hip) dances. Thank you to our teachers for putting on one incredible show!
