We wrapped up fire safety week with a few more fun and educational activities. In addition to firefighter spirit day, our students enjoyed hearing the story "No Dragons for Tea" which is a funny little tale with some important fire safety lessons.๐Ÿš’ We hope you all spent some time going over the fire safety checklist with your family at home. Thank you for sharing your photos with us! ๐Ÿ˜Š
It's fire safety week!๐Ÿš’ Today Ms. Cassandra (Director of Operations) taught our students some important fire safety tips. Dial 911 in an emergency, never play with fire, and the purpose of a smoke detector. Test your child's fire safety knowledge by asking them about these two important phrases. "Don't Hide, Go Outside" & "Stop, Drop, and Roll".
Today our students and teachers proudly wore pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month.๐ŸŽ—We send positive thoughts of strength and hope to all of the breast cancer fighters and survivors.
Before we close out the month, we want to recognize the Apple of Our Eye for the month of September, Ms. Jackie!โค Jackie is a wonderful teacher in our Infant class. Her fun-loving and witty personality keeps her co-workers laughing and her infant students smiling. We are so happy to have Jackie on our team. Has a teacher "wow'ed" you? Nominate them for Apple of the Eye for the month of October at pick-up today. Nomination forms are on the easel.๐ŸŽ
Today we are wrapping up our Celebrating Cultures celebration! Our students dressed in cultural attire and we talked about how to say "Hello" in different languages. Thank you to all of the families who sent in photos of your worldly travels and decorated flags from your native countries. We collected photos to represent nearly 50 different countries. We hope you enjoyed seeing the flags and photos at drop-off and pick-up each day.
As part of our Celebrating Cultures unit of learning, today we explored African folk tales! Ms. Natalie (Campus Director) taught our students about the tradition of telling stories around a fire using words and your imagination...instead of reading from a book. Ms. Natalie told the tale of Abiyoyo, a book by Pete Seeger based on a South African lullaby and folk story. Instead of looking at the illustrations, our students used their imagination to bring the story to life! ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ“š๐ŸŒ
We are excited to celebrate Ms. Shirley's 13 years of service at Primrose School of NE Flower Mound! ๐ŸŽ‰ Ms. Shirley has impacted the lives of so many children and families here at Primrose. Do you have a favorite Shirley moment? Please share in the comments!
Have you ever heard of โ€œswarm and peelโ€? This is a philosophy we use in our Infant, Toddler, and Early Preschool classrooms. It is natural for a group of young children to โ€œswarmโ€ an activity that is highly engaging, and then โ€œpeelโ€ off one-by-one to explore other activities. Swarm and peel combined with a structured classroom environment is a recipe for success in our school. Take a look at โ€œswarm and peelโ€ in action today. You will see that who and how many students appear at a single activity changes minute to minute!
We are committed to creating a learning environment that promotes Active Minds, Healthy Bodies, & Happy Hearts. This morning our students were living their BEST lives while learning!
Primrose School of NE Flower Mound updated their business hours.
Primrose School of NE Flower Mound and Primrose School of Old Orchard joined forces to collect nearly 1400 food items for Cca Donation Center in Lewisville, TX. As part of Primrose's Character Development Program, we strive to teach students to give without expecting something in return. The generosity exhibited by our families at both school campuses is proof that our students are learning this important life lesson at school and at home.
Happy Diwali! Ms. Anu, Lead teacher in the Pre-Kindergarten class, wanted to share the traditions and culture of Diwali with our Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten classrooms. Diwali, the festival of lights, signifies the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair. The festival is celebrated with friends and family, good food, fireworks, colored sand, and special candles called 'diyas. Ms. Anu shared a special book about Diwali and the students tried โ€˜datesโ€™ which are used to sweeten many dishes in India. Primrose of NE Flower Mound will be turning on our Christmas lights for the next five days to celebrate Diwali with Ms. Anu and other families here at Primrose.
Honoring Our Veterans In observance of Veteran's Day, Primrose families staked flags marked with their veteran family member's names and branch of military in front of the school. Thank you to all the service men and women who fight to protect our great country.

What a week we had leading up to Halloween!๐ŸŽƒ Early in the week, we enjoyed a Halloween Pajama Day and story time with Ms. Cassandra (Director of Operations). Then we planted magic pumpkin seeds in the garden with hope that the Pumpkin Fairy would deliver a patch full of pumpkins. Today our students had so much fun Trick-Or-Treating door-to-door to our classrooms. Finally, we harvested the pumpkins out of the Primrose Patch. Enjoy these photos, and have a safe and happy Halloween.
Who's got Super Bowl spirit?? WE DO!๐ŸˆOur students enjoyed our NFL spirit day to kick-off Super Bowl weekend. Our teachers enjoyed some "super" special nachos for lunch! Everyone have a happy and safe weekend.๐Ÿค—
In honor of Black History Month, we are celebrating some awesome African-American innovators! Ms. Natalie Merritt (Campus Director) read the book "Mr. Crum's Potato Predicament" to our Pre-Kindergarten students. In 1859 George Crum invented the potato chip! After listening to the story of Mr. Crum's invention, our students enjoyed sampling a taste of modern day potato chips. Our Preschool students learned about Garrett Morgan, the inventor of the traffic light. They enjoyed creating and eating a traffic light made out of graham crackers, frosting, and gummies. Thank you George Crum and Garrett Morgan for your wonderful contributions.
Earlier this week our staff enjoyed a wonderful In-Service Day. We continued our learning on the principals of Conscious Discipline and implemented one of our favorite aspects of the training...Kindness Trees!๐ŸŒณ Classroom Kindness Trees are designed to be a visual reminder to teachers and students of the importance of committing kind and helpful acts. This creates a culture of kindness in our classrooms. When a teacher notices a student engaging in a kind or helpful act, that student places a heart-shaped leaf on the tree. We can't wait to see our Kindness Trees in full bloom! Our staff enjoyed a variety of team building activities that focused on the importance of communication, creative thinking, and team work. Thank you to all of our families who afforded us the opportunity to spend this valuable time together.

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Monday, January18th), our students took home an activity to share with their families. Parents were encouraged to talk with their children about Dr. King, his message of hope, and the positive impact he had on people. Our students then wrote and/or drew pictures of their dreams.
