Meet our sweet Family of the Month for October, The Jetton Family! When asked what the best thing about Primrose Park Cities is: "From what we hear, the food. Ryan likes to think of himself as a chef but apparently he has nothing on Primrose’s food. From our experience, the teachers. They are simply the best and have loved our kids so well!" 💜💚🧡💙

Rainy day? No problem! ☔️ Our Pre-Kindergarten students exercised their balancing skills during indoor Thumbs Up time! Balancing activities increases a child's endurance and core strength as well as aiding in hand-eye coordination. Although balance maturation is not generally achieved until the age of 12, working on balance at an early age can also help develop the child's concentration. Go Pre-Kindergarten!! #ParkCities #primroseschools

The votes are in from our Primrose 2020 Election! Our presidential Primrose Friend mascot winner is Mia the Mouse! Our students read the book, Grace for President by Kelly DiPucchio and imagined what they would do if they were elected president. We discussed candidates for the election, Percy and Mia. They took their voting ID to the polling booth and recorded their vote on the ballot. We loved learning about the importance of voting. #PrimroseSchools #PSPC #rockthevote
From reading and movement to kindness and gratitude, our new Harmony & Heart program integrates music, literacy, and character education in a variety of thoughtful ways. 🎶 At the Rigley Primrose Schools, our students are enjoying all the fun the program has to offer!

Today our Primrose Friend, Erwin discussed with the children about differences! Just like we all have different hair colors so do squirrels; they have different fur colors such as brown, black or grey. Our Toddlers tried each type of textured paintbrushes. As they painted various colors, they also discussed the textures they were producing with the paintbrushes! 🎨 🖌 #PrimroseSchools

We are glad you are here today! The Primrose Schools Balanced Learning curriculum invites classrooms set the tone for each day with a routine of circle time activities. One of the components of the infant/toddler program morning routine is an attendance activity which encourages face and (early stages of) name recognition. During attendance time, students are asked to come find their name and place it into one of two baskets: at school or at home basket. As the school year continues, students will become more familiar with their name and gradually learn to associate the letters on their card with the letters of their name Other components to the morning routine include the Pledge of Allegiance, Rules of the Roost, plan for the day, and a Noggin Joggin activity. The routines are times for quick reinforcement each day!
The most current early childhood education research and standards suggest that it is important to focus on celebrating diversity throughout the year, especially around the holidays. With young children, it is particularly important to focus on the holidays that relate most directly to each child’s own family and then gradually widen the lens, as they get older, to include a focus on their community by the time they are in kindergarten. To help celebrate diversity and learn more about others, several of the most common holidays are mentioned in our Units of Learning throughout the months of November and December. This week teachers and children celebrated Diwali through creating some of the common traditions. Our students had a BLAST! In India, one of the most important festivals is Diwali, the Festival of Lights. It’s a five-day celebration with food, fireworks, colored sand, special candles and lamps. This festival celebrates the new year and reminds us to spread light and kindness to everyone. Happy Diwali! #Primroseschools #PCPS
Teaching little Hands to Make a BIG Difference Children who learn the value of giving back at a young age are better able to develop a sense of empathy and citizenship. In addition, research shows that young children who have high prosocial skills – or behaviors meant to benefit another – are also among the most cognitively ready for school. While teaching young children the joy of giving back can seem overwhelming, at Primrose Schools, we believe that helping to instill these attributes in your little ones may be simpler than you think! Our 10 days of Caring and Giving Food Drive was a HUGE success! With over 1300 donations by Park Cities alone, we collectively calculated 6,417 food items donated among ALL Rigley group schools! Almost 5000 MEALS that were delivered to Minnie's Food Pantry today! Thank you so much to our PSPC families for your generous contributions to our commUNITY, for supporting such an incredible organization, and helping the students exceed their goals !

Wherever you stand, be the soul of that place. At Primrose Schools, we believe WHO children become is just as important as what they know. During the character development portion of Prekindergarten curriculum this month, students have been discussing generosity and the importance of giving back to others and our community. Take a look at some of the ways our students would like to impact the world around them ❤️💙
Let’s “taco” ‘bout how awesome our PC teachers are!! 👏 👏 👏 Thank you to all our teachers for making everyday so happy and bright for our students and families! 🌮 ❤️
Today our Preschool students explored the cover of the book Apple Picking Time by Michele Benoit Slawson and illustrated by Deborah Kogan Ray. The children were asked what an illustrator does. The illustrator is the person who draws or paints all of the art in each book that you read. When we see the artwork in a book, it helps us to better understand the story in the book. During project time the children used an art technique called blow painting to create an illustration of an apple tree trunk.🎨🖌 #PrimroseSchools #PCPS
Traditions touch us, they connect us, they expand us. One of our favorite traditions during this holiday season is the gifting and receiving of pie!!! In celebration of the Thanksgiving holiday and in gratitude for abundance, we thank the Rigley family for sharing this practice and tradition with all your Primrose teachers, staff, and families! 🥧 ❤️ 🦃
Wishing our families a time of togetherness and blessings during this Thanksgiving Holiday!

We love you Ms. Traci !!!! Congratulations Primrose School at Klyde Warren Park December 9 at 3:58 PM · Our lives are defined by the decisions we make each day. When we choose one option over another, we contribute in the shaping of our lives. The decision-making process can be empowering, allowing us to enjoy the benefits of self-determination. Yet it can also be a source of anxiety and frustration because decisions force us to face the possibility of dissatisfaction and inner conflict. As a result, many of us opt to avoid making decisions or we consequently turn our power over to others granting them the stewardship of our lives that is ours by right. Though the decisions we must make are often difficult, we grow more self-sufficient and secure each time we trust ourselves enough to choose! Having a clear vision of who you are and what matters most to you are the key ingredients for success and happiness. The Dr.’s Rigley group would like to congratulate Ms. Traci Mackintosh in the decision, pursuit, and completion of her Master of Arts in Education. We thank you for the courage to determine your life’s personal direction, the power to protect your personal values, and embrace your authenticity! We love you and are so very proud of you!
You are unique. There is no one else like you in the entire universe. In honor of your unique self, it is good to acknowledge and embrace the special qualities that make you the person that you are. ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨ Primrose Schools

International Cheetah Day! Fun fact: Did you know that every cheetah has unique markings on their face?! All cheetahs have tear marks, which help reflect the sun’s glare since they do most of their hunting during the day, and they are the only cats with these unique markings! But we think the coolest part about cheetah faces (and our sweet children) is that every individual cheetah has a unique spot pattern and no two cheetahs have the exact same spot pattern. This is actually how they are distinguished as individuals! Dallas Zoo
I meet myself in stillness, and we breathe. 🌀 🌀 🌀 Learning to regulate our emotional responses, especially during times of stress, can be difficult. ... Calming strategies can help a child to work through strong emotions. When calming strategies are practiced regularly throughout the day, the possibility for use at times of anxiety is increased. "I've decided to stick with love, hate is too great a burden to bear." Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King lived his life reflecting such principles as kindness, respect for others, fairness, courage and caring for others. At Primrose, within our Happy Hearts character development program, we model and teach these concepts everyday. As we remember Dr. King today, the children participated in activities about caring for each other and sharing our dreams for a peaceful world.

“It is easier to build strong children, than to repair broken men.” - Frederick Douglass PSPC Students in our private kindergarten class are celebrating Black History Month by exploring and highlighting the many contributions of African-Americans in our history and how they helped improve our lives today. This week discussions were had around Josephine Baker, an entertainer and civil rights activist. She was the first Black woman to star in a major motion picture! Primrose Schools
PROJECT TIME Students at Primrose Schools participate in weekly Early Art Masters curricula. This month, prekindergarten classes are discussing Patterns Of Change: Earth & Sky. One definition of “pattern” is the regular and repeated way in which something happens or is done, or something that happens in a regular or repeated way. Every day the sun comes up and it’s daytime, and approximately 12 hrs later, the sun sets and it’s nighttime. These events happen repeatedly in the same order day after day. That’s a pattern! Today’s project time, students observed, discussed and investigated sky patterns as well as the colors, shapes, snd movements seen in the sky. Then, we fingerprinted our observations as sky paintings.

In our Preschool Pathways program, our Unit of Learning this month is Patterns of Change: Goodnight Moon. Today’s Wonder Time 1 activity sparked some creative writing and storytelling as students were given opportunities to stretch their vocabularies and imaginations by completing the sentence prompt: “The moon is..." They were very proud to see their words written out and were excited to share their stories with their classmates. So many wonderful learning objectives to observe and practice in this activity, such as: vocabulary development, spoken word to print formatting, scientific observation, creative writing, as well as storytelling based on prior class discussions. We might just have some future authors, astronauts, and scientists in this class! Primrose Schools

When we think of patterns, we often think of striped patterns on a shirt or the arrangement of patches on a quilt. As early childhood educators, when we hear the word pattern, we may immediately think of order of objects like ABAB or AABAAB patterns in math. Students in our Preschool Pathways program are learning about patterns of change. At Primrose Schools, we arrange our daily schedule of activities around patterns. We eat our meals in the same order and at about the same time each day. The order of our school schedule is similar each day. Children thrive on predictability and time patterns help them know what will come next. It's comforting! These students are discussing the patterns of light & dark, night & day! During a wonder time 2 discussion today, students talked about things people can do in the dark and things we can do in the light. Questions that were asked of the students such as "How are we able to see in the dark?" "How does light help us?" sparked interesting and sometimes humorous conversations :)
Did you know shadows can be seen inside and outside? This week PreK is taking a closer look at animal shadows in the block center. We are paying close attention to how the size and position of the shadow changes when we move the light’s position. The children then manipulated their own shadow sizes and shapes outside as they played in the warm sun. Applying learned concepts to multiple areas/activities builds strong retention. Way to go PreK! 🌸W O M A N S • D A Y🌸 Happy International Women’s Day May today remind us of all the women before us who paved the way for us to be where we are. And remember, we are paving the way for women after us. Today + everyday: let’s continue to lead with our hearts, dive into our inner feminine power, and always have strength. At PSPC, We celebrate the “too much” women, soft women, strong women, powerful women, outspoken women with hearts as big as oceans. We support the evolution of women and excite to see you blossom in adversity and rise in union as forces of nature.
Dr. Seuss is perhaps the most beloved children’s book author to recently come under criticism for outdated and insensitive depictions of racial, ethnic, cultural and gender differences. This week - on Dr. Seuss's birthday, Doctor Seuss Enterprises announced it will no longer sell the books because they "portray people in ways that are hurtful and wrong". Children’s publishers and literary estates walk a delicate line by attempting to preserve the author’s legacy, while recognizing and rejecting aspects of a writer’s work that are out of step with current social and cultural values. The ongoing re-evaluation of these classic works is part of a larger debate about a lack of representation in publishing, and there has been an effort to diversify not just children’s book characters but also their creators. When evaluating Read Across America week, the decision was made not to entirely shift away from all Dr. Seuss’ books because they are so effective for teaching children the fundamentals of reading. At PSPC, we continue to celebrate his positive contributions, as well as recognize the growth opportunities associated with the controversy. We applaud the effort that his estate is making to educate, and evolve. After a panel of experts and educators reviewed a catalog of titles, a decision was made to cease publication and licensing of six. This week we celebrate READING and the mission of supporting all children and families with messages of hope, inspiration, inclusion, and friendship. Primrose Schools
The Primrose Schools Balanced Learning Infant/Toddler curriculum is designed as one continuous curriculum for children ages 6 weeks-24 months. Each of the experiences are differentiated for Infants, Young Toddlers (ages 12–18 months) and Older Toddlers (ages 18–24 months). This arrangement gives our teachers and staff the flexibility to interact with each child in the classroom in a way that is developmentally appropriate for the age of the child. Students in our Older Toddler program explored various soil samples today. We discussed the various characteristics of each sample and the location—that it is found outside, and we have to dig it up. Teachers modeled how to hold a shovel and dig. learning outcomes: ST3.3 Uses senses to understand the world and begins to show interest in the use, manipulation, and exploration of sensory material, including earth materials, items, and processes, such as water, mud, and sand • ST3.6 Observes and describes the outdoor environment and explores the garden, using simple garden tool
“I know it is wet, and the sun is not sunny. But we can do lots of fun things that are funny!” - The Cat in the Hat Celebrating the life and vision of Dr. Seuss this week and honoring his birthday! Today was “wear a hat day” in honor of his book The Cat in the Hat! Primrose Schools
"So powerful is the light of UNITY that it can illuminate the whole world" Power outages and lack of running water left many Texans and other parts of the South still feeling the effects of a deep freeze that swept the region last week. Several public school districts in Texas closed for the week. Our own school remained closed as inclement weather conditions made roads and travel unsafe. Members of our own PC family were affected as well: families, teachers, and staff members. What a generous gift it was to receive such an outpouring of emotional and continued financial support from our Park Cities parents, commUNITY, and families. As a small "THANK YOU" we hosted a Parent's Day Out today. An opportunity for families to attend school for a Saturday afternoon! The kids had a blast, and we hope our parent's did too. Thank you to all! <3 Primrose Schools
Morning G R E E T I N G S . . . . Prekindergarten has implemented a new greeting routine into their morning. Each student will choose how they want to be greeted: handshake, fist bump, hug, or high five. ❤️ Greeting at the door gives each child a sense of belonging. It also shows emotional and social support. Allowing them to choose what is needed for them in that moment helps them invest in their learning for the day ☺️ Primrose Schools

!!!!!!!! Raising Ready Readers !!!!!!! Nothing prepares your child for success in elementary school like a strong kindergarten experience where your child expresses a new-found confidence and a joy for learning. The Primrose Schools Balanced Learning® approach provides teachers with the tools and guidance to accommodate children’s natural curiosity and to fully support each child while building problem solving skills and confidence. The early years are critical for literacy development. From sign language and story time in younger classrooms, to phonics and eventually reading and writing in our older ones, your child develops important literacy skills and a love of reading. This month, PSPC Private Kindergartners gave literacy presentations on a book of their choice that they have read this month. Students created visual representations of the story's characters, plot, and themes. They were asked to summarize the main ideas of the story as well as prepare a review presentation of the book ! Way to go Kinder students! Primrose Pal Og the bookworm is so proud of you!
